Apparently, you see, Japan is full of atheists, and God decided to grab them by the throat and shake them in order to show them his love.
I think clips like this are important because they really show us what sorts of people we’re fighting against for our equal rights. Here we have a girl who obviously thinks that she means well, but is so brainwashed into her belief system that she not only does not understand that the shifting of the earth’s plates has absolutely nothing to do with the religious beliefs of the people living atop them, but also that the idea of a deity who would destroy and kill in order to show his “love” would be called an sociopathic abuser, if we were talking about a human.
Warped conception of love? Glaring disconnect from reality? Yep, that’s what we fight against for our equal rights.

Boy is this broad stupid. If God REALLY wanted to reach the maximum number of atheists, He would have done much better to target CHINA, not Japan. In fact, I don’t think Japan has all that many atheists; non-Christians and atheists are NOT THE SAME THING. In China, while there are people who follow various religions, the “State religion” (for want of a better term) is atheism. Surely if her “God” really wanted to “shake things up,” a country of, what is it, three billion people, would surely send a much louder message. (Please insert eyeroll here.)
These people call themselves “Christians,” yet instead of worshiping the loving and forgiving God of the New Testament, they constantly and incessantly depict God as the jealous, vengeful, tribal deity depicted in the Old Testament. And even most Jews who are educated in their faith do not carry this depiction of G-d to the extremes that Fundy Christians do.
Do christians have no understanding of some of the most basic principles in advertising??? This is opportunism. What you do is you twist every single current event into a reason why people should buy your product. Why don’t they seem to get this????
Sucks too because I can see her angle. People are sad, scared and angry during a disaster, so my cheerful optimism about it will get their attention. And in reality, it just makes you look like a heartless b***h.
In one of her videos she’s damning World of Warcraft as satanic. In another video, she’s wearing a “Cake is a Lie” t-shirt which is from the video game Portal. Really? A fundie girl wearing a gamer geek t-shirt while saying that World of Warcraft is Satanic? The irony is not coincidental. It’s intentional because she’s putting on an act.
Another video of hers damns pop culture while she’s wearing a t-shirt that says “I Luv Meh” on it. She also refers to Lent as “Lentil Season.” She’s a good actress, but she can’t always keep a straight face when she says things that are totally outrageous.
My intuition was picking up on something. She didn’t seem authentic to me. Not that there aren’t people out there spewing abhorent stuff just like this.

This is a parody. Fundies are not into Lent, let alone the “Lentil season”, though some hyperconservative roman catholics & orthodox are. Not enough Jesus talk here either and she wasn’t able to get up enough good venom about the godless atheists. A true fundy would have thrown in something about the gays as well. I think we are getting upset over a joke.

Even if this is a hoax, the joke isn’t on Wayne. The joke is on fundamentalism itself. When I was a Pentecostal teenager, I regularly said (and believed) such outlandish things, like that God sent hurricanes to punish people and that he required men to wear a tie (don’t ask).
Nah, that’s kind of the point of Poes, that they illustrate just how ridiculous fundamentalists really are. That’s why there’s no reason to take it town. It’s a really good Poe, because fundamentalists really are often just like this.

The god of the new testament tortures people eternally for not believing in him – that’s anything but loving and forgiving. The god of the old testament tortures people while alive but leaves them alone after they are dead. I’ll take the god of the old testament over the god of the new testament any day.
how unmistakenly sad….Jesus gave himself for all of us….including those who do not believe. God does not “destroy” people because they do not “believe” or even “reject” The love of God is waiting to save us, whether we have passed on because of an earthquake or tsunami, or from anyother way…. death is a part of “moving on” some earlier some later….who are “we” to judge the whys and werefores, we are to love as Jesus did and still teaches us to do….. God does love each of us and IS waiting with open loving arms.
