Okay, so you take one mid-grade piece of chicken, bread it in such a way that the grease just sort of rolls onto your tongue, grab a bun, no, not a good one, preferably a fairly cheap one that isn’t strong enough to sustain said piece of chicken, and then you go to the pantry and find a couple pre-sliced pickles and stick them on there haphazardly, and then you spend millions on an ad campaign featuring dyslexic, uneducated cattle with hearts of gold, in order to hide the fact that your secret chicken sandwich recipe is something that a resourceful five year-old could replicate with a microwave and a bag of Tyson chicken breasts, and probably better. Then you sell that awful stomach-churning thing to people for about twice what Wendy’s charges for something far better. Profit! Then you take all that money and, along the way, give over $1.1 million to groups that work tirelessly to teach Americans to hate gay people.
This is the heartwarming story of Chick-Fil-A, revealed in an investigation by Equality Matters:
When two Missouri organizations, the Clayton Chamber of Commerce and FOCUS St. Louis, decided earlier this month to cancel a presentation by Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy over his company’s controversial affiliations, they made the right decision. Although Cathy has unequivocally denied being anti-LGBT and claimed that he and the company have “no agenda against anyone” and “will not champion any political agendas on marriage and family,” Equality Matters research proves just the opposite. In fact, the company has strong, deep ties to anti-gay organizations like Focus on the Family and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and its charitable division has provided more than $1.1 million to organizations that deliver anti-LGBT messages and promote egregious practices like reparative therapy that seek to “free” people of being gay.
Not only that, but some of that money has gone to known hate group affiliates! And Truett Cathy doesn’t confine his bigotry to “charitable” giving either, but even extends it to his own employees:
Chick-Fil-A’s Employment Practices Are Hostile Towards “Sinful” Candidates. Chick-fil-A requires potential franchise operators do disclose their marital status, number of dependents, and involvement in social, church, and other organizations. Employees may be fired for engaging in “sinful” behavior, and Truett Cathy has said he aims to hire workers who are married.
Nice. Also, they are not open on Sundays, which has been proven to be the only day people get cravings for their vile “food.”
Read the whole thing, and then never go there again.

I went once out of morbid curiosity. That was enough.
Even their ice cream tastes like Sunday School and shame.
So – shall we all start asking Mr. Cathy why he lied? After all it IS against one of those commandments he says he follows…
It also is “sinful” behavior which by CfA’s own code of ethics would require that he step down.
I’ve also been informed that this chain regularly donates part of its profits to private Christian schools throughout the US.
Your article would have much more integrity if you cut out the petty attacks on the quality of the food. Taste is subjective. Who they give money to is a fact. Let’s stick to the facts, shall we?
Always complainers. Always.
Why is it OK for groups or individuals to support Planned Parenthood, PETA, Humane Society, NAMBLA and other liberal causes with their money and not OK for a individual or company to back causes which are aligned with their faith?
Rock….Let me start by saying that the NAMBLA crowd (TINY as it is, should all put but on the same island…preferably one that has sunk below sea lever). You will find precious little support for that tiny minority of Freaks here (or elsewhere) and NO, they should NOT have a voice. They hurt people.
PETA (people with to much time on their hands) is annyong, but except when they fight important medical research, they are not hurting anyone. Ditto for the the other gruops.
Exodus is a hate group that preys on people that it and its second rate church based religious supportes have wrongly convinced they are in need of a “cure”. One that never works, cannot work, and will lead to nothing put pain and suffering.
You don’t have a right to scream “Fire” in a crowded theatre. And society will (RIGHTFULLY!) turn its back on any company that allows itself to be used for
Anti semitism
Racism
support of the second class status of women
child abuse
Homophobia…in all its forms. Including the idea that we need “curing” “Healing” etc.
And if you feel we do, you ARE, and WILL be classed with the people who support the first 4 things I listed. Not up for negotiation. Done deal.
And if your, or anyone elses bigotry is based on your religious beliefs, much like that of a now deceased (the world is a better place, sad to say) great uncle of mine who based his racism on Biblical passages, well, tough.
Get a better church, there are many exceppent options to pick from. Lutherans, American Baptists, Presbyterians, Episcopalians, United Church of Christ and countless independed congregations, all will be happy to help you overcome your prejudice and religious misunderstanding, so there is no excuse to base bigotry on the false claim of religion.
All my best to you. Good luck.
Rock, NAMBLA’s a liberal cause? I guess you’re getting your information from the FRC or some other hate group. If NAMBLA’s a liberal cause reinstituting slavery is a conservatie cause.
I updated the dyslexic cows’ sandwich board signs to reflect the company’s Phelpsian fundamentalist agenda: http://imgur.com/msAhT
NAMBLA? Where did that come from?
Let’s get something straight (no pun intended): no one cares what your vaunted personal and precious religious beliefs are. You are entitled to them and to practicing them. OK? BUT, when the practice of your beliefs steps on me or my rights or hinders my life in any way or supports anyone or organization that does any of those things then, I don’t have to keep my mouth shut or tolerate the “abuse”. Understood? Apply your damned religious beliefs to your life any way you want. I will respect that to the hilt. But work against my equality/rights and use your “beliefs” against me, then you are in for the resistance/attacks you are seeing. ( and please, when I say attacks, I mean within the law)
Becky, when they know they are losing, they pull that last, desparate trick out…they mention that which should be unmentionable; NAMBLA. It is a sad attempt to paint us with a brush of dirtyness and disrespectability.
Happily, even most conservatives have learned that the trick does not work, and it just makes the person who tries it look desparate and stupid.
