Could it be any more obvious that Matt Barber is a closet case with internalized homophobia? A wide range of identifiable “types” may be homosexual. Some entirely masculine appearing persons, in a traditionally heterosexual sense of masculine, may in fact be gay – i.e., they are not visibly gay. But other people very conspicuosly are homosexual – not because of culturally learned affectations but – just because of nature, the way a cedar wax wing has markings on its wings. Matt Barber is as obviously gay as a cedar wax wing is a cedar wax wing.
What you need to understand is there is no bottom here. People like Barber are in a state of free fall into the abyss and whenever you catch yourself thinking “no…they just can’t sink any further…”, next time you see them they have. There is no bottom to the Pit they’re in, and they’re constantly falling deeper and deeper into it…
Barber’s not the only wingnut to suggest this. What’s especially repulsive is the underlying meaning:
If you’re not filled with enough shame and self-hatred to kill yourself, you must NOT be very moral. In other words, to be a good, moral homo means you’d WANT to kill yourself.

They can’t even process the role they play in things like gay teen suicide because their relationship with their conception of god is so full of weird Daddy Issues. Daddy is good, everything Daddy says is good, therefore nothing bad can come from Daddy, and blame must lie elsewhere. It’s weird from a psychological perspective, but that’s what it is.

Shrill anti-gay activist Barber desperately needs Jesus in his life. First those promoting the immoral anti-gay agenda push people toward suicide, then they attack and revile those people they have pushed to suicide. Real Christians don’t engage in this kind of hateful reviling and blame game. Moreover, whatever happened to personal responsibility? Anti-gay activists need to learn how to take personal responsibility for their anti-gay words and deeds and this would be a better nation if they did so.
I wish Barber would finally realize that HE is immoral.

While we all know there is still plenty of bigotry against us among straight men, how many genuine heterosexuals do you know who have turned it into a livelihood-generating profession? Genuinely straight men (and probably women, too) who are secure in their sexuality have more interesting things to do than think about homosexuality 24/7. In an odd way, their professional persecution of homosexuals allows them to live a unique kind of homosexual lifestyle that is guilt-free. They get to think about, write about, talk about, and be all about homosexuality, all the time. I suspect that even their marriages become largely about demonstrating how NOT-homosexual they are.
And then there is Matt Barber’s early failed career as a boxer – please. Have you seen the cover of his recent book that just screams, “See, I’m a real man. Really, I am.?”:

Homophobia is the last refuge for America’s bigots. It is only anti-gay bigotry that can still be displayed publicly without fear of universal opprobrium, and that is pitiful. Second, Freud was right when he said that those men who are loudest in their denunciation of gays tend to be self-hating latent homosexuals themselves. I have no idea about Mr. Barber, and I personally shudder to think about him naked, but there it is. And, third, I have revised my thinking about homophobia. I used to think that it is fear of something, because the root is from the Greek for “fear.” I’ve come to conclude that instead it is sheer idiocy. How many global and national health organizations have to declare that homosexuality is NOT unnatural, NOT a disease, NOT changeable on a whim, NOT a matter of personal selection, etc., before these bozos realize that yes, THAT IS TRUE? It absolutely has to be an idiot who looks at what has been said about this by the WHO, the APA and countless other professional organizations and conclude “no, they must all be wrong.” Absolutely an idiot.
