“Why stop at transgender identity? Why not species identity — someone wants to get in touch with their inner horse.”
-Matt Barber, speaking at The Awakening
Lest you think it was all bile and venom at The Awakening, they also discussed ways of approaching homosexuals from a Christian perspective. “We have to reach out to those trapped in lifestyle that ultimately leads to death,” said Cynthia Dunbar, assistant law professor at Liberty University. Ryan Sorba, chairman of the Young Conservatives of California who threw a fit at gay participation at last year’s CPAC, offered these helpful insights for Christians wishing to reach out to homosexuals:
“‘Gay’ is a left-wing socio-political construct designed to create grounds for fundamental rights [based on] whimsical capricious desires. Gay identity does not exist.”
According to the article he then proposed several alternatives to “gay” including, “same-sex attraction”, “same-sex intercourse”, “unnatural vice” and the ever popular “sodomy”. Later it was proposed that gays also be called “anti-Christian.” But in a reaching out kind of way.
Whatever they were awakening there at Liberty University it wasn’t their conscience. Perhaps they should have held a seance instead.

Did you notice that there were only 40 something folks in attendance. So much for their Moral Majority.
“‘Religious’ is a right-wing socio-political construct designed to create grounds for fundamental rights [based on] whimsical capricious desires. Religious identity does not exist.”
There, I fixed it.
Why stop at biological identity Matt? I think you’d make a pretty good cinder block. You should get in touch with your inner cinder block Matt.
Oh…wait…
And this place is called Liberty UNIVERSITY?! huh.
How stupid they are…plenty of churches have reached out to us. From the Lutherans to the Prsbyterians to the Episcopalians.
By “reach out” they mean “try to make them feel like crap by feeding them second rate Christianity and fundtamentalist inferior theology”.
No thanks. White trash Baptists just cannot compete with the real thing.
I have news for them. A homosexual lifestyle does not lead to death.
Life leads to death. so you better stop.
@Ben– hahaha good one! I’ve had ‘the lifestyle’ since birth and have been ‘out’ since 1976 — if it leads to death, the grim reaper had better get the lead out of his a*s, ’cause i’m still here and healthy. ps…Jerry Falwell was the founder of ‘liberty university’ and died fairly young in my opinion; which proves that the ‘gay lifestyle’ doesn’t lead to death, but the phlegmatic fundamentalist, gluttonous, sedentary lifestyle *does*.
Seriously, Matt is getting in touch with his inner horse’s a*s and doing a really good job of it. Boy, his guiding principle obviously is: I’m ignoring reality and substituting my own. Funny that no matter how they festoon their Christian approach, it still drips with animus, insult, and bigotry. Answer is – deep inside them is the unswerving belief that we are still and always will be “an abomination” (the infallible word of God).
I’ve found that the living lifestyle leads to death too.
