I think this may be the one, folks. Alan Simpson, former senator from Wyoming, correctly states that many of the members of his party are homophobic and anti-woman. Of course, I’m sure the howler monkeys on the Right have loaded his images into the Two Minutes Hate by this point:

that would be “demented howler monkeys” if you don’t mind! let’s get the label correct!
The radical conservatives have finally completely revealed their true goals (which they have been trying to achieve since Reagan). We see them working to destroy unions so they can assure bigger profits to their Big Corporate sponsors. They work to take away everything in the budget which helps real Americans such as Medicare, public education, Medicaid, Social Security, the EPA, public broadcasting, and the ability of the FDA to monitor the safety of food and drugs. They work to put in place their anti-single parents, anti-gay, pro-bullying, pro-hate crimes, anti-Islam, anti-Latino, anti-right for women to control their own lives and bodies and anti anything else that interferes with profits for the rich and the corporations which last November paid for the best Congress money can buy.
Alan Simpson hearkens back to an earlier age — the age when America’s Republicans were not complete dingbats or dingbat supporters or dingbat w****s, as the case may be. Republicans in the US Senate in particular were once sensible, logical people who probably in most cases when to church (or temple), but did not wear their religion as a ten-gallon hat and were not inclined to waste time on wingnut hysteria about gay penguins, pink nail polish on a boy, the “idea” that 90% of Planned Parenthood funding is used for abortions, etc. In other words, they were not people who combine the two wonderful elements of being not particularly bright and not being able to tell the truth even if the truth is holding a (protected-by-the-second-amendment) machine gun to their heads. And you know what the truly sad, if not terrifying thing is? Every single one of the Republican wingnutty dingbats serving in Congress today is there because a majority of Americans in his or her district or state voted for him or her. A majority of Americans in a district in Minnesota, for instance, has continued to vote for Michelle Bachmann even though the woman is a certifiable lunatic who cannot even locate the correct camera to gaze into. What a sad, sad thing. (Oh, and also, of course, the fact that the Democrats have been limp dishrags in response to the wingnutty dingbats.)

Though I disagree with Simpson’s economic views I do think he is pretty sensible on social issues. It’s too bad that the Republican Party seems to be jumping over this crazy cliff. You can’t even pretend most of them are sensible.
I have been a registered Republican all my life and can honestly say that this party has become unrecognizable. It is filled to the brim with nut-cases and freakoids. Most of them should be wearing tin-foil hats. Their damned “thing” about social issues is over the top, to say the least. They talk incessantly about making government smaller and less intrusive, but at the same time delve ever deeper into controlling the personal choices and aspects of individual lives. Doing THAT takes a really BIG and intrusive government. Where the f**k are the brains of the people who voted these bozos into office? I wasn’t one of them and never will again vote for the likes of THIS Republican party.
