The other day, marginal wingnut Bob Vander Plaats, who is spearheading the effort to take civil rights away from gay families in Iowa, compared the overall societal effects of marriage equality to the effects of second-hand smoke. I truly am sad that my laptop issues denied me the pleasure of hearing about that in real time, because those kinds of comments deserve to be mocked when they happen. Anyway, Stephen Colbert took that little comment and ran with it:
“If your gay sex is causing smoke, you might want to slow down.” Words of wisdom!

Well, Plaats does have a good point about the second-hand stuff. After all, every day we experience the harmful effects of second-hand wingnutism and religion.
