Well, this is a minuscule step:
The Ugandan parliamentarian behind an anti-gay bill that attracted worldwide condemnation said the most controversial part of the legislation — the death penalty provision — is likely to be dropped from the bill.
David Bahati said if the parliament committee the bill currently sits before recommends that the death penalty provision be removed, “I would concede.”
“The death penalty is something we have moved away from,” Bahati told The Associated Press in an interview.
Good. Now move away from the entire bigoted bill.

Wow. How very–very to consider taking the death penalty out of the law. How about leaving people who do not do anyone any harm the hell alone?!
If you’ve ever heard this guy speak, you’d realize that he would fit right in with the most virulent Christians in the USA. I saw him interviewed about this bill and within the first couple of statements, he made a point of saying that he has no hatred for gay people, he loves the gay people, and then proceeded to defend the bill with its death penalty clause. His two-faced statements were back to back and no attempt was made to somehow justify how one statement didn’t contradict the other. He is a master Christian politician.
As if a gay person would survive a month in a Ugandan prison.
