“It’s sad. I mean, my personal position is that I do not support gay marriage, and I think it’s wrong, as well. It’s not politically correct to, I guess, give your opinion about a thing like that. It’s politically correct on the other side, for people to say, ‘sure, I support gay marriage.’ But the majority, I think, of Canadians would say that they don’t agree with gay marriage – that man and woman were created to be married, not man and man or man and horse, you know?” -Don Reynolds, father of Todd Reynolds, original tweeter and vice-president of Uptown Sports Management, as quoted in The National Post
Le Yikes! Le kittee quel terrible odeur!! Scram a vous!!!

Funny how “I’m not a bigot, but…” is always accompanied by a statement explaining how much of a bigot the person is.
Oh, but all his best friends are gay!
*snort*
I like how “sad” it made the one guy.
I see where puck daddy, Greg Wyshynski, wrote a nice piece about Avery’s doing this.
It is always not “hatred”, “bigotry”, “animosity, or “intolerance”. Then comes the BUT I BELIEVE……! And of course, they all believe in “equality”. Their definition of “equality” needs some clarification. “We are all equal” how? According to the standards of which YOU approve? Are we talking: I have the same right to breathe as you do? Or, a******s, are we talking legal, civil equality in the application of the law – equal. Because if we are, then you guys are typical bigoted intolerant dumb asses. You have no understanding of “equal” under the law. You only know what your intolerance tells you. And that is that you are better than us; you deserve all that any American, except us, expects from the law; you are in a class of superior Americans, which does not include us; your human needs and capacity for love are “better” and deserve all respect in law, whereas we, being inferior, don’t deserve that kind of EQUALITY. You believe we are all EQUAL? Horse s**t!
I saw this story on a few sites before I noticed that Uptown Sports Management is in Burlington, Ontario.
For stories that have anything to do with Canada, I suggest that you say “In Canada”, somewhere in the first sentence. I think that when reading a post like this, most Canadians will assume that it happened somewhere in the wacky-backward U.S. of A.
I see that the word ‘Canadians’ does appear in your post, but of course a lot of people (including me) skim ahead after making their assumptions. We can get complacent up here, assuming that the fight has been won, eh.
Rogers, a major media/broadcasting corp in Canada, fired a sports host on Sportsnet after he tweeted:
“I completely and wholeheartedly support Todd Reynolds and his support for the traditional and TRUE meaning of marriage.”
Damian Goddard put that tweet out on the company account instead of his own. He is permitted to have his viewpoint, but using the company twitter feed is a no no. Rogers says Goddard was a contracted freelancer, and the tweet is not why he was fired.
