On Sunday, I wrote in my weekly column:
“Now that Daniels is out, I predict that Sarah Palin will soon announce she is running for president. She must be somewhere in the tundra looking at the shabby crop of contenders and think: “I can beat them.” Of course, she’s correct and if she chose to run, I’m fairly certain that she would get the nomination. Surely, Palin would get off to a fast start in the conservative Iowa caucuses and her chances are quite good in South Carolina.”
Today’s New York Times reports:
Sarah Palin is fortifying her small staff of advisers, buying a house in Arizona — where associates have said she could base a national campaign — and reviving her schedule of public appearances. The moves are the most concrete signals yet that Ms. Palin, the former governor of Alaska, is seriously weighing a Republican presidential bid.
Seems like the crystal ball is still working. However, I was wrong about the tundra, with Palin moving to the desert. While not being able to see Russia may hinder her foreign policy expertise, she will no doubt soon be an expert on Mexico simply by crossing the border and ordering a margarita.

Sarah Palin may run for president but the person you should keep your eye on is Michelle Bachmann. Y’know, Bachmann? The candidate for those who feel Palin is too smart for them. My bet is that Bachmann will be the vice presidential candidate for the Republicans.
I think Bachmann will run into the same problem that Sarah Palin had. She simply doesn’t know anything. But, until she screws up, you are right that she will gain momentum.
Wayne, are you familiar with the High School student who, stunned by Bachmanns stupidity and lack of knowledge about our nation and the constitution, challenged her to a debate?
The dingbat has not been brave enough to take her up on it, but, amazingly, I know people who think she is Americas “last best hope” (!)
Devin, there is no way the right will have TWO women on the ticket—one is ‘bad’ enough.
I almost feel sorry for the rethuglicans, their potential nominees are so scraped from the bottom of the crazy and stupid vat that you could make Grappa out of them.
I would be uber surprised if the National Twit (Sarah Palin) enters the race. All this “fire in the belly” nonsense that she keeps repeating and another (Oh brother!) bus tour is all calculated to keep her name and profile in the public’s faces and minds. Bear in mind that she is now touting her film (The Undefeated). She’s undefeated because she’s a loser to begin with. Such hubris! Her money making capacity will be much greater now that after she would lose a presidential bid. She is all about the camera and money. Why else did she quit as governor of Alaska? Why, after becoming the darling of the conservatives, would she want to return to being an elected nobody as governor of Alaska? No money there. She is such a f*****g phoney!
