You know, Joplin. Where the massive tornado came through and destroyed the city and killed at least 125 people.
Of course, being Westboro, they’re going to be thanking god for that tornado, that killed at least 125 people.
The controversial Westboro Baptist Church is planning to protest President Obama’s visit to Joplin, Missouri Sunday.
On its website, the church writes, “Thank God for 125 dead in Joplin.”
Church members claim Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has attacked them by promoting laws banning them from protesting at soldiers’ funerals.
Of course, the god of Westboro Baptist is such a genocidal headcase that he also sent the tornado because of gay people.

Oh the evil evil things I want to do to these b******s!
maybe he will do something more stupid than protest and the secret service will take them all out and who knows the police might just be to busy to not see people kick the crap out of these a******s
Their God’s aim sucks.
The hardest part about WBC is the fact that they know they’re hated, and they follow every law down to the letter to avoid actually facing any real punishments. They stand right at the minimum distance from everything they picket so they can’t be thrown out. They may talk a lot of s**t, but the authorities are powerless, as everything else falls under Free Speech, Amendment 1, and now they have SCOTUS agreeing with them. They’re a******s, but they’re not dumb when it comes to the law.
As a professional security guard, I’m rather grateful I haven’t had to work any events in their presence; I’m not sure I could restrain myself.
I have a question for the WBC and Bible literalists out there: If God hates Queers and their supporters so much, then why is He punishing states that are the least LGBT friendly? Aren’t these states following His divine precepts and laws with anti-gay marriage laws and constitutional amendments? Don’t many of these states still practice discrimination against Queers if not in law but in everyday life? So, why is He not sending death and destruction to the “Left Coast” or New York or New England? Why is Iowa still untouched by His divine retribution? Many Christianists are quick to argue that the earthquake in Japan or the 2005 Tsunami or Hurricane Katrina were evidence of the Almighty’s displeasure against sinners and/or non-Christians. What does this mean that He is reaking havoc on the Bible Belt and areas of devout Christianity? Could it be that He is displeased with their actions and interpretaions of the faith? Just a thought…..
Nick K., those are excellent questions. So let’s continue to explore the possibilities:
If there is one thing that God does faithfully, it is the annual springtime battering of the so-called Bible Belt with tornadoes. Why is the area of the U.S. with the greatest concentration of God’s most devoted fans singled out for some of the most viciously brutal destruction known on earth. This year’s tornadoes have been the worst in many decades, at least as far back as the beginning of the modern gay rights movement. I’m sure fundamentalists believe there must be a God-based reason why this annual destruction occurs, so let’s take a look at some possibilities:
1. God is punishing self-proclaimed America’s finest Christians (AfCs) for doing such a poor job of stopping the advance of the homosexual agenda. And after four decades of failure, He decided extra punishment is warranted this year.
2. God loves His gay children, and is punishing AfCs for their relentless vicious persecution of gay people.
3. God is angry with the states that now permit gay marriage, and decided to punish the Bible Belt states for it. (Hey, it makes as much sense as the U.S. invading Iraq after 9/11.)
4. God doesn’t concern Himself with such trivialities as tornadoes, and He just doesn’t care enough about AfCs to protect them from suffering. And besides, He is tired of the tornado survivors thanking Him, when what they really mean is, “Thank you, God, for killing those other people instead of me.”
5. God gets really annoyed with those who proclaim themselves as the only true Christians, who are certain they know the mind of God, who claim to be the sole authority on the Bible’s meaning, and who march forth in sanctimonious certainty that they are doing His will. And those people are disproportionately concentrated in the Bible Belt.
6. God doesn’t exist. Tornadoes are a result of naturally occurring forces that are now easily explained by science, unlike thousands of years ago when superstition was all people had to explain their world.
So, I would ask AfCs, which reason for Bible Belt tornadoes seems most rational to you?
# 2 suits me down to the ground.
#6 has my vote.
I live in Joplin, Mo. today the president came and visited our city that was destroyed by this tornado!! We all heard the Westboro idiots were coming to protest! And so did about three hundred bikers!! The bikers all showed up and parked across the street from the University where Obama held a ceremony for the many good people, friends and family we lost!! The only report of any Westboro people actually being there was one guy strolling through all the bikers, when they found out who he was it got ugly for him real quick his shirt got torn off and he was pushed around pretty good! When the police saw what was about to happen they grabbed him and tried to push the bikers back!! Then they told the guy “run you stupid mother f****r” And I am quoting!! :) We heard that more of them were blocked at a local truck stop by a few awesome truckers!! They pinned them in until it was over, not sure about this one just what we were hearing!! You may think of bikers as mean or lawless but when it comes to things like this they really step up!!!
p.s. most of the bikes were flying the American flag!!!!!
Troy! Your story is amazing! Thanks so much for sharing! I may promote your comment into a full post ;)
