Cousin marriage, that is. So here’s a picture:
HOW is Mississippi not on that list? I demand to know who took away the right of cousins to marry in the great state of Mississippi, home of the American Family Association! You’d think they woulda fought tooth and nail to preserve that.

proud to be british
While I agree that equal access to marriage should be available to all people regardless of gender, this is a shockingly bigoted post. I have come to expect more from Truth Wins Out.
For one, there’s nothing wrong with marrying a cousin, from a scientific perspective: http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2008/12/cousinmarriage/ The rates of birth defects are not significantly different from the rest of the population. In fact, it’s more risky getting pregnant over the age of 40!
Also, “buck-toothed morons”? What, are you 12? Making fun of people with dental issues or developmental disabilities is the opposite of the message we’re trying to spread of love and acceptance. It gets better! Unless it comes to protecting children with disabilities from bullying, then all bets are off, it seems.
What is interesting is posting this after posting an article fawning all over HRC for endorsing Obama so early when Obama has said he doesn’t support marriage equality because “God is in the mix.”
This is a stupid invasion of privacy and talking about it anymore is moot. People have the right to choose who the hell they want to marry. Leave it at that.
I see NJ is colored in, in the above graphic. Actually, that’s not quite accurate. We have Domestic Partnership laws here, but they are a far cry from all the rights and privileges of full marriage that heterosexuals have.
@The Nerd: Really? Really. Really? Are you aware of Southern colloquialisms? Have you been to the South, ever? Hi, those of us who live in the middle of it might say things that make liberals in other areas hit the fainting couch, but that is because [and no offense intended here to coastal liberals who don't have to deal with the s**t we do, but yet have a grasp on what it's like to do so] so many of those liberals in other areas have literally NO CONCEPT of what it means to be liberal when you’re not surrounded by people who think and act like you do. So. FYI, the reason the phrase “buck-toothed” is back in the discourse, is not out of a desire to make fun of people with “dental issues,” but because a liberal, country Tennessee legislator used the phrase, stating that places like Tennessee, which is passing anti-gay bill after anti-gay bill, aren’t doing anything to cut away at the stereotypes that we’re a bunch of inbred, bucktoothed hillbillies, and that it’s sad, but these “pro-family” types are the ones who are keeping that alive. So for you to concern troll me on language when you obviously have no clue what you’re talking about is cute — at best.
Oh, and Tim, we weren’t “fawning all over” HRC. That was simply examining the reality of the situation and analyzing it. HRC did right in this instance, because there is no leverage to be had by withholding the endorsement.
