The Christian Right lost — for now — a second battle today when U.S. District Court Judge James Ware denied the groups’ demand that the government force trial participants to surrender video footage of the trial in which California’s antigay, antifamily Proposition 8 was overturned.
The loss occurred on a technicality: Quite simply, the parties who now possess the footage may hold onto the footage for as long as the Christian Right keeps prolonging the original trial via appeals such as this one.
Since the original trial began, the Christian Right alliance — operating under the banner ProtectMarriage.com — has sought to suppress eventual broadcast of the trial, claiming that that Christian Rightists would suffer “harassment” (embarrassment) if its witnesses’ statements became public.
The censorship dispute isn’t over: The court will hear arguments August 29 into whether the Protective Order against the video footage may be lifted.

The only consequences the Prop8 proponents would suffer from the release of the tapes would be that the public would see how their case collapsed in the courtroom with their pathetically few and inept witnesses being under oath and cross-examined.
If the Prop8 proponents thought they had made a compelling case, they would be demanding that the tapes be released on YouTube or Netflix.

Wouldn’t this fall under the Freedom of Information Act? …and, THEY would be harassed?!?!…another example of the right accusing their victims of the crimes they themselves are committing.
