Thanks to the Republican Senate in the Badger State, gay people may soon have a tool to protect themselves against assault. Would-be gay bashers will now tread more carefully knowing that gay people could be packing
It’s a conceal and carry law that hasn’t quite passed yet. Yay. Because if we know one thing about gay-bashers, we know that they spend a lot of time considering whether that homo over there might have a gun. That totally would’ve stopped Matthew Shepard’s killers.
I’m pro-gun, in general [Southern Liberal], but man, I am anti-stupid, and my threshold for dealing with it today is especially low.

Actually had Matthew Shepard had been carrying a gun, FBI statistic suggest he would in fact still be alive.
Check your facts, bro.
These idiots just do not quit. I rather like the idea we may be able to protect ourselves against assault. What is this idiot trying to say: gun rights only for heterosexuals?
And that would still have been his choice whether or not to carry. Bruce, I’m pro-gun, but my god, this doesn’t have jack to do with gay rights. This is why I have so little patience with gay conservatives. If you’re excited about a conceal and carry law, great, but that applies to all people equally, unlike our current marriage laws, for instance.
Statistics mean nothing to the individual Bruce. You seem to be forgetting that Matthew Shepard’s murderers had guns too.
Unfortunately, it is more likely that the gay-bashers are the ones who would be packing. I can see a potential rise in drive-by shootings.
@John: Also true. And then there’s the whole statistic about how people’s guns are so often used against them when they’re victims of violent crime.
Again, as I have said three times on this thread and in the post: I am generally pro-gun. I’m, of course, sane, so I advocate strong gun control, because liberals don’t look at gun control as a symbolic shrinking of our penises, but if you want a gun and you’re a responsible citizen, knock yourself out. Just don’t act like people are so stupid as to think that a conceal and carry law has something to do with gay rights.
Whether he carried and it saved him or not is completely irrelevant Bruce. We’re talking about human rights here. The right to carry a concealed weapon to protect yourself from attackers is great, but until we have the same rights as those attackers, they will always come, because society and our government tell them that they are better than us.
^Ta-Dah!
I’d rather change society rather than cowering, safe and secure in my victim status.
Then again, and it must be said: wingnuts have a really, really f*cked up concept of violent crime in this country. They are under the impression that violent crime is just going CRAZY in this country, when the truth of the matter is that it has been dropping precipitously for years. But that doesn’t work with their Drudge-fueled Fear of a Black Planet crybaby fears.
