Jim Newell has the video over at Gawker, but Pat’s losing it a little bit, doing that thing fundamentalists do when people laugh at them/win the culture wars that they started: he’s making up crazy revenge porn fantasies about what his “god” is going to do to New York now. Here’s the text of the thing:

Okay, so even if we were to grant Pat Robertson’s contention that the Sodom thing actually happened, he’s essentially arguing our point here, as he is conceding that the big issue in that story was Angel Rape [actually inhospitality, which has a lot more complex meaning in that context than it does in most of our discourse. Raping angels would naturally fall under the heading of being inhospitable, you see]. So unless you’re an idiot and you actually think that the average LGBT person is an angel rapist, then that story doesn’t have anything to do with gay people.
But beyond that, Jesus when He spoke of Sodom He didn’t say anything about the homosexuality he talked about just the fact that business was as usual until God decided to destroy it.
Because it wasn’t about homosexuality, genius.
And He sent an angel down there and He said to Lot and his family, ‘get out now because I’m gonna destroy this whole area.’ That’s where sodomy came from, we use the term sodomy and it means Sodom.

What’s it like? We’re heading that way as a nation. In history there’s never been a civilization ever in history that has embraced homosexuality and turned away from traditional fidelity, traditional marriage, traditional child-rearing, and has survived. There isn’t one single civilization that has survived that openly embraced homosexuality. So you say, “what’s going to happen to America?” Well if history is any guide, the same thing’s going to happen to us.

Someone should ask Pat Robertson if he agrees with the Sodom and Gamorrah story’s clear message that it’s okay for a man to throw his virgin daughters to a mob to be gang-raped.
Pat Robertson can’t offer any other message than doom and gloom on any progress in gay equality. To do so would lose his right wing financial support. Look to him to raise his anti-gay rhetoric every time he is raising funds. He will call for support to save the nation. Just watch him…he is creature of habit and he has a record of doing this.
Didn’t Oral Roberts pull this crappola back a decade or so ago, saying “If I don’t raise [a million dollars, if memory serves me correctly], God’s going to take me home.” Well, he lived a while longer, whether his minions sent in their paltry $5.00 a month, or not.

If and when it does happen to America (USA) it will most certainly NOT be because of the genuine love of individuals be they “same-sex” or otherwise….It will be because of the injustice in the mentality of….misunderstanding the “meaning” of what is in the Bible and simply the common “hate” mentality of most of mainstream Christians,that, can only destroy.

Defenders of ‘Gay marriage’ promote liberty, ie..sexual liberty, while other forms -free speech, religious freedom- are taken away from other groups.
Catholic adoption agencies are forced to place children in same-sex families, college students are punished for speaking against same-sex parenting, graduate students are thrown out of college for refusing to morally affirm homosexual sex, parents are arrested on school property if they want their child to opt out sex ed classes that advocate ss unions, tax exemptions are denied when churches don’t make their property available for gay weddings, and social work licenses threatened merely because a school counselor supported a state marriage amendment…. and that is only the beginning of the end!!!
In each of these cases, a number of constitutional liberties were threatened for the sake of protecting[u] a state-approved idea [/u]— the idea that there should be no moral distinctions drawn between homosexual and heterosexual relationships. Oh, and also, if Catholic adoption agencies want to take money from the state, they have to abide by the state’s laws. It’s that simple. No longer do conservative religious people get a pass to be dumb bigots when dealing within the public square, as it was never constitutional to begin with. Make your churches and private schools 24/7, education-free, reality-free zones of zealous hatred and pig ignorant bigotry, please, by all means, as that is what your religious freedom actually encompasses. But if you want to, for instance, conduct business as a public entity, you must act like grown-ups like all the other public entities.
Rgarding comment 3: why didn’t you also quote verse
50? The hebrew word for abomination in that verse is
the same word used in Lev. text codemning homosexual
sex. Also, the men in that story were most definitely homosexual as evidenced by the fact that they turned down Lots offer of his virgin daughters.
