As you might expect, Brian Brown has a butthurt and a sad right now. The NOM spokesmouth and Connecticut resident has somehow managed to keep his marriage together despite the now-violent climate in Connecticut, where marriage equality has existed for a while now. But now he can’t even get on the train and go to New York without being tempted by the specter of same-sex married people, all around him, their existence standing as the negation of his life’s “work.”
Or something. I have no idea what he’s talking about in this clip from last night’s Ed Show. This idea that, by including gay people in the institution of marriage, the institution itself is destroyed, is beyond stupid, and for him to sit with his sideways seething smirk of schoolyard rage and try to tell Thomas Roberts and Al Sharpton that gay people getting married is a greater threat to the institution than divorce — I mean, dude works for the National Organization for Marriage, after all — is still a little bit unbelievable, even after years of watching him attempt to make words on this issue.
That said, he looks like he’s been taking a spinning class or maybe jazzercise, because he’s trimmed up a little bit! Or maybe it’s just the camera, or maybe there’s a straitjacket under his sport coat. Or maybe Friday’s vote took away his appetite. I dunno.

Brian Brown and the toadies at the National Organization Against Marriage keep pushing the lie that “Redefining marriage redefines marriage for everyone.” – that’s not just a lie, its a gigantic lie. Heterosexual couples have been free to define their marriages as one man/one woman before equal marriage and they are free to define their marriages that way after gay marriage. Equal marriage only redefines marriage for those gay and lesbian couples who choose to marry. It is Brian Brown and Maggie Gallagher who are trying to define marriage for everyone, trying to deny same sex couples the same right to define their marriages that Maggie and Brian have always had and will continue to have.
Why hasn’t the government forced them to disclose who their donors are? They were ordered to quite some time ago. If they don’t Brian and Maggie need to spend some time behind bars in a federal prison.
Evan said,
“. . . he [Brian] looks like he’s been taking a spinning class or maybe jazzercise, because he’s trimmed up a little bit!”
Maybe Brian really does see the handwriting on the wall, and knows he needs to look better when he goes on the inevitable interviews for a new job. After all, his resume won’t help him much because it will show his most recent employment as an anti-marriage-equality crusader, and he failed.
Oh, PLEASE.
What a blatant lie.
The ONLY thing the National Organization for “Marriage” is trying to do is hinder equality. How dare they (well, Brian Brown) stipulate that they do anything else (helping married people? don’t make me laugh)
Radical anti-gay activists don’t have the guts to go after adultery and divorce which are the main problems afflicting OSM. It’s so much easier to pretend like you’re doing “something” and attack gay taxpayers and make a big fat paycheck while doing so.
