This is just epic, and I love that it comes from the man who holds the title of Most Disingenuous Bigot in Wingnuttia, Dr. Michael Brown. We don’t cover him very often, but he wrote a 700-page tome earlier this year on how much he hates gay people, but really just wants to be friends. He’s also, like Porno Pete and Bam Bam Barber, one of those anti-gay activists who can’t seem to write or talk about gay people without throwing around juvenile slurs and “jokes,” which are only funny to bigots who are uncomfortable in their own skin. The following video is a great example of that. It’s intended to be funny, and it is, but not for the reasons Michael Brown probably thinks. In it, we see a teacher reading a book about gay parenting to her class, and one little kid starts having some sort of day hallucination about how weird/bad it would be to have gay parents. Aside from the part where one of the dads burns dinner [are gay guys known for being bad cooks? Better notify the James Beard Foundation...], it mostly consists of a child being instructed to have a Michael Brown-esque bigoted reaction to being in the same room with two people of the same gender. Again, it’s a pretty funny video, but most of the people watching will be laughing out of pity for whoever made the video.

It’s also funny because all credible studies show that the kids of two gay parents do just as well as the kids of two straight parents, on average. The only significant area where we do better is that we don’t raise prissy little bigots like Michael Brown, whereas there is obviously a risk of that among heteros.

Oh wow! That was cheesy! It might be because of my preferences, but I thought the kid with two mommies was really lucky. LOL
That video is beyond stupid. I don’t think we have to worry about it persuading anyone who is not already a dimwitted bigot.
This had to be the most moronic video I’ve ever seen. It was unimaginative and cocieved by immature, undeveloped minds. Michael Brown is little more that a third grade child trapped in walrus mustache. Pathetic. And he owners why no one will buy his book, nor respects him. He is beneath contempt.
Evan, or anyone that happens to know,
Please provide link to the studies you mentioned.
Thanks
Great stuff. I love this video and its message about gay parents raising kids! BTW, while we’re on the topic of funny video bloopers, check this video out. http://youtu.be/HANQnqFgmHc
This is interesting: Take a look at Dr. Michael Brown’s Academic C.V., and then come back here and let us know if you concluded that his field of expertise is human sexuality/relationships/parenting.

It never fails–conservatives just can’t do humor, no matter how hard they try. That’s probably because most of it is based on hating or excluding some group of people; besides, the authoritarian personality is incapable of seeing the world in a way that can produce good comedy–picture Stalin or Hitler trying to do stand-up.
I often reference this site for news and updates. Although I have profound with the articles posted on this site I am always entertained by your wit and creative approach. I must take issue with the conclusions about the motives of Dr. Brown in this instance. First, his sincerity is clear throughout this video. Second, the infomercial style footage was produced by the host not Dr. Brown’s ministry (I have personally confirmed this with Askdrbrown.org). Having been a daily listener to Dr. Brown’s daily radio show “The Line of Fire” for several years I find it irresponsible to liken him to “anti-gay activists who can’t seem to write or talk about gay people without throwing around juvenile slurs and “jokes,”. If anything he stands out as one who takes issue in a hostile enviorment in a gracious way. Now that you know this video was not produced by Dr. Brown’s ministry please site the “juvenile slur’s” you are referring to. Have you read “A queer thing happened to America”? I believe you will find it scholarly, well researched and challenging. Thanks for posting this and may we continue to challenge one another through our different perspectives.
To the contrary, Matt. I have listened to Brown on ‘Line of Fire’ for the couple of months it has been on WEZE-AM in Boston & he does indeed hate gays. I also read a review of his ‘book’ which was very negative because he includes a 40 page section which is primarily copies of literature from NAMBLA to ‘prove’ that gays are pedophiles. Now if that ain’t hate, I dunno what is!
Hey guys, HOLY s**t! I was just listening to Michael Brown on WEZE and he started to make fun of Truth Wins Out & Evan Hurst. Well, I feel he was making fun of us, I may be wrong. And then he reference Matt and then he referenced me & my quote from this site. He would like me to phone him but I do not plan to. I know these radio guys, they run over you easily & next thing you know you’re roadkill. But he DOES hate gays, not matter how many time he uses the code word ‘love’. Xtian ‘love’ is just another way to express hatred.
Sorry Dr. Brown, but I’m not ‘calling in’. I’m in the office working actually & I cannot call you. Yes, I call it ‘hate’. Yes, I’m still listening though. I KNOW you think that you do not ‘hate’ but I cannot believe that someone who is NOT a gay person can have the slightest idea what gay is or means. How do you come to think that you know so much about us? BTW, I AM xtian, but not a fundamentalist/evangelical. I am born-again, Spirit-indwelt but I am still gay & I like it that way. And my best friends are atheists!
Matt, the man is full of crap, he is a pure fundy, and his “book” was so bad that even the conservative publishers would not touch it. It’s pulp, waiting to happen. Thats why he is always so DESPERATE to get people to “donate money so I can send a copy of this book to a person of influence” )who will then send it to a recycling center, hold up the broken leg of a couch, whatever.
It is a joke.
so is he.
As per the idea you have anything to offer in conversation, HA! You might LEARN something, but you have nothing to offer here. Nothing at all.
@Richard Rush
To me the more striking thing is that his career appears to be spiraling DOWN, not up; at least in the scholarly world.
Thank you for posting the link.
Kind thoughts,

Wow…I am FAMOUS (LOL!) (well…not really)
“Dr” Brown quoted post number `12′ on “dr. browns funny video” word per word on his show yesterday.
He then went on to explain that no one would publish his book because it was “dangerous” and thee publishers told him they were scared to publish it…then he said that “important people were waiting for the book”.
Basically, he admitted I was right! NOBODY would publish this book. Lets face it, if a publisher thought that it would make $$$, they would would publish it. God knows they publish enough crap! (but his book…to ‘dangerous’! LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL!)
Let me give some other examples of this sort of reasoning on his part that someone might say;
“Oh No, no, no, no Michael…its not YOU, is ME. You’re so strong and good and handsome, you deserve better than me. I’m not breaking up with you…I’m just admitting you deserve better than me, thats all. I am setting you free.”
“we want to publish your book…we are just frightened to…its SO important and big and controvsial and interesting…we are frightened of publishing a book like that here…OF COURSE it would see well and make us money, but, we are just to scared!” (ooops…thats what he said happened! LOL, LOL, LOL!)
and
“Oh No..you misunderstand this. We aren’t FIRING you so much as we are letting you go to explore a new world of work options at other companies. Yeah…thats it. Oh We LOVE your work! It’s just so excellent it does not fit in with our corporate culture or business plan (the company wants to make money). Don’t think of this as a pink slip, NO! No, no, no, no! Think of it as a passport to other opportunities!” (maybe in radio, appealing to fear on the part of an elderly audience that is terrified of change)
I LOVED it when he explained that sites like TWO and quotes like mine don’t really bother him.
Saying that is, after all, the surest proof that they do.
Wayen, Evan, everyone involved in TWO, THANK YOU for the encouragement and support this site offers so many people. And for the work you do exposing the Bachmanns and Browns and other kooks for who they are.
I know how you feel, Gene. Dr. Brown spent much of the first hour of his show trying to get me to call in to his broadcast. Which I didn’t do. I don’t think I’d enjoy being made into mincemeat by a radio personality. I was also at work making phoning out extremely iffy. I don’t mind Dr. Brown as much as some of you guys do. I think his heart may be in the right fundamentalist place, he just won’t admit that he hates gays & wants us to cease to exist, first thru salvation & then thru ‘pray away the gay’. He may not call that hatred, but I do.
Great stuff! I also liked the video about a stereotypical gay guy on YouTube. Believe me, it gets better. http://youtu.be/NBFlc-RP9M0
If I had to choose the quintessential example of a pompous sanctimonious a*s, Dr. Michael Brown would be the clear frontrunner for the title.
I first became acquainted with this jackass a few years ago when he posted a bunch of long-winded oh-so-civil comments on Ex-Gay Watch. He reeked with delusions of superiority even as he tried in vain to hide behind a veneer of warm friendly understanding smiles while speaking directly to gay people.
