Truth Wins Out will be on Culture Shocks with Barry Lynn today at 4PM EST. I will be going up against Southern Poverty Law Center official hate group leader Peter LaBarbera, (aka Porno Pete), who runs an outfit known as Americans for Truth About Homosexuality. Here is a wonderful song (Grammy ??) dedicated to our friend Porno Pete that has 29,000 views — more than he has likely gotten on his hate site all year.

Wayne Besen is the Founding Executive Director of Truth Wins Out and author of “Anything But Straight: Unmasking the Scandals and Lies Behind the Ex-Gay Myth” (Haworth, 2003). In 2010, Besen was awarded the “Visionary Award” at the Out Music Awards for organizing the American Prayer Hour, an event which shined a spotlight on the role American evangelicals played in the introduction of Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill.

Last week, LaBarbera sent out a tweet which appeared to indicate that he is now working at Starbuck’s. I have pasted it below.

For the record, I have nothing but the greatest respect for people who work in fast food service. These positions are highly stressful and the workers are not treated with the respect that they deserve, either by their employers or by the public. So I don’t bring this up to suggest that there is anything wrong with working at Starbuck’s per se.

However, if it is true, it would reflect just how much of a flop AFTAH has been. Peter probably thought it was a smart career move to carve out a niche for himself. If he is moon-lighting to make ends meet, that may serve as a good example to other would-be Porno Petes out there.
