We all know that the Teabagging movement, in general, is not all that bright. We also know that they’re less of a “movement” and more of a repurposed rebranding of the same old wingnut rage-gasm that has been the base of the modern Republican party for several decades now. Sometimes they say horribly offensive things, but more and more, I’m dumbstruck by how utterly disconnected from reality they are. Consider this quote from Tea Party Nation CEO Judson Phillips, one of the most racist ones they have:
I will tell you ladies and gentlemen, I detest and despise everything the left stands for. How anybody can endorse and embrace an ideology that has killed a billion people in the last century is beyond me.
Uh. Like I said: too stupid, can’t get mad.
What the hell are they even talking about?

I think it’s a reference to the claim that Communism resulted in 100 million deaths in the 20th century. They used ex-gay math to get to a billion and of course all the left are communists.
This is an old tactic, Evan — apparently, the Teabaggers are convinced that the “left” includes things like Soviet-style communism, the Bolshevik revolution, the French revolution, and Nazi Germany. To them, these are all “socialist” movements that led to wholesale slaughter of millions.
This is very commonly dispensed in fundamentalist and evangelical circles. Their idea of “the Left” is the epitome of pure evil, and that it must be defeated at all cost. Having a black President is just a part of that, and he represents everything they loathe — at least, in their … ahem… minds.
Do a little digging, and I think you’ll find what I’ve said to be completely corroborated. Scary stuff. It’s only a matter of time before there’s another House Un-Americans Activities Committee.
The Tea Party are simply pseudo-McCarthy-ite paranoics petrified of the imagined spectre of socialism (because it’s wholly ‘un-Amurcan’) and who dont like the idea of a progressive black president.
They fall into the Glenn Beck myre, the one where if you beleive in health care for the poor, then are a Trotsky loving, Stalin worshiping, dyed-in-the-wool Red Commie Marxist who would like nothing more than to see Americans all wearing the same clothes and driving Lada’s.
Only Idiots deal in absolutes, and that is what most of these people are.
On a barely related subject, I have just come across the following disturbing report –

It sems the insidious tendrils of the ex-gay movement have slithered across the pond.
Wayne, Evan et al, might I suggest a ‘TWO Europe’?
Could be just a blown out guestimate of the number of abortions.
