No, folks, you’re not reading an Onion article: in a press release today, the folks at GOProud announced the appointment of polemicist Ann Coulter to the post of “Honorary Chair and Gay Icon” of that organization’s Advisory Council. Coulter joins other wingnuts notable conservatives including Andrew Breitbart and Grover Norquist on the council.
Apparently, as far as the self-loathing conservative gays at GOProud are concerned, being on the wrong side of every major LGBT rights issue (opposing the repeal of DADT and DOMA and the passage of ENDA and hate crimes laws, endorsing “reparative therapy,” etc.) presents absolutely no impediment to a person being arbitrarily declared a “gay icon.”

Ann Coulter, gay icon? Who’s next, Anita Bryant? If anyone out there still believes that GOProud serves any function other than being a shill for the extreme anti-gay right wing, today’s insanity should put those misguided views to rest. Perhaps it’s time to break out the straitjackets for Barron & Company.

If I were setting out to purposefully embarrass Coulter (which, to begin with, simply isn’t possible in a woman who has no shame) I would bestow such a title on her. GOProud’s actions bespeak a clownish organization that is fast becoming a caricature of itself. Or maybe they really are mugging for a job at the Onion.

I can not believe I am reading where Ann’s allegiances are. I watched Ann on C-Span the other night from 12:00to 3:00AM with a great deal of interest and satisfaction. I thought very little of the questions asked by the interviewer about Chris Christie or GoProud. Her answer to Chris Christie was stunning comparing him to I believe Jesus or God?? I could be wrong, but the feeling was conveyed as she wanted to convey it. Very powerful feeling toward this great man. I’m not sure of her answer for GoProud because I didn’t think she was serious so I didn’t pay attention. In light of the interview and the feelings of satisfaction in her view points I joined her webpage. Voila!!
Since joining I researched the Great Man Chris Christie and his viewpoints. I had heretofore agreed with Ann about the forceful and polished manner in which he would answer critics and audience members who thought they would throw him a curve ball. Impressive to say the least. It was at this point that I decided to research some of Christie’s viewpoints expressed in the form of articles, interviews, and suggested political situations. To be very respectful, I was stunned at his viewpoints. He has plummeted to the bottom of the pile for me along with my opinion of Ann. I will post this comment and be on my way out of here. I will also spread the word on the issues that bother me the most, that Ann agrees with Christie on and see if I can change people’s minds about her so called Conservative Leadership Role. Sorry folks, the both of them are losers. I’m not a school teacher nor a government employee. I am a Tea Party supporter and felt she would be also. Come to think of it she has never been involved in the Tea Party movement and I can understand.
To those of you who would care to research what is disturbing to me, please find out the stance of Chris Christie on the subjects of immigration, carbon credits and his comment on the appointment of a muslim judge. My point with the appointment of the muslim judge is not the fact that the judge is muslim. It is the fact of whether he ever disavowed the writing in the Koran that are contrary to the Constitution and if he denounced the idea of death to infidels. I haven’t heard that from any Muslim. Other religions in the past have reputiaded the negative statements in their religious writings. Not them. It seems that Christie feels that 9/11/01 was just a couple of pissed of foreigners. They were muslims carrying out their duty according to their reigious beliefs.
I am extremely saddened by what I have found out. It has disallusioned me beyond belief. I don’t know who’s who any longer. What our founding fathers stood for and risked their wealth, lives and families for are so far removed from reality today it scares me. It was their efforts that created the country that the world wanted to be part of and it was the country that saved the world from disaster. I write this also as first generation natural born citizens whose parents escaped persecution in the 1920′s for a better life. I found it, now it’s gone forever. I don’t see it ever being what it was. Go figure.

You are aware that GOPRoud’s website is using this article, more specifically it’s title along with the name of the website in front of it, to make it look like the Truth Wins Out article fully supports this announcement, yes?
You might want to fix that. They’re proudly announcing a list of Queer organizations that “back them up” in this choice.

Ann Coulter is an icon to me and many other gays in that she does a better job than anyone in making anti-gay conservative look like nutcases. With enemies like her, who needs friends?
