I know there are few pundits who agree with me when I say that Sarah Palin will likely get the GOP nomination for President of the United States. It is clear that the GOP electorate wants a Sarah Palin type for the nomination and no one plays the part of Sarah Palin better than Sarah Palin (except for Tina Fey, and I’m guessing she is a Democrat).
Michele Bachmann is a dizzy pretender and can’t even answer basic questions about her stance on LGBT issues. Rick Perry is too much like Bush and wrongly believes that the most conservative parts of Texas represent the nation as a whole. Plus, Perry’s biggest strength — job creation — is really his biggest weakness. He portrays himself as the King of Jobs, but he’s really just the creator of jobs at Burger King. Many of the jobs he “created” are at fast food joints and the workers have no health insurance. Promoting drive-thru jobs as a way to end the recession will play like a drive-by shooting on his campaign. The other jobs created in Texas are in the oil industry. Unless oil is discovered in the other states, Perry’s job creation record is irrelevant. Perry’s first trip to New Hampshire was a dud, as thinking New England Republicans were surprised to hear that he thinks global warming is a hoax. Maybe Perry is unaware of the drought in Texas. Wait, he is keenly aware of it and tried to pray the drought away.
Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Herman Cain etc. are all washed up clowns that I could probably beat if I entered the contest.
I think Sarah Palin is waiting for Rick Perry to fizzle out — much like Fred Thompson. Once this happens in the next few weeks, Palin will triumphantly enter the race and suck all the air out of the room. Her pizazz will allow her to raise all the money she needs on the Internet — and render Bachmann second fiddle. The GOP nomination will come down to Palin vs. Romney and the only way Romney wins is to go for an evangelical VP like Perry or Bachmann. However, in picking one of these nuts, he will lose the general election.
I’d love to hear our reader’s thoughts on Palin.

Must disagree. She now knows campaigning for national office is hard AND she can’t keep the clothes she buys on campaign funded shopping sprees.
The ONLY reason she MIGHT run is if the media ignores her to the point that the only way to get her RDA of attention is to actually declare she’s running. Even then, she’d only stick it long enough to make sure the cameras are focused on Magical Me before deciding her place is really with her beloved family, you betcha.
So long as she has that gig with Faux Snooze, though, she doesn’t need to run.
The thing is, she is only attractive to The FOX and others if they think she is running or she runs. If she doesn’t she’s just another talking head.
Every day she is told that she should be president wherever she goes. I think she now believes it.
Don’t forget Palin was the preferred candidate for those (white) people who were at the lowest end of the socio-economic and education scale. And as mentioned in another post here, unless carl rove approves, any given GOP candidate isn’t going anywhere. Rove is evil and totally amoral, but he’s a genius when it comes to ‘reading’ and manipulating the voters. Unless they pull out some as yet unknown guy, what they have so far to offer is pretty bad. They’re still trying to get our (NJ) governor Chris Christie to run (or as Bill Maher calls him-Fatty McFat), but christie, who is cut from the same mold as Scott Walker in WI, keeps saying, like the Amy Winehouse song, no—-no—-no.
…cut from the same cloth…. sorry about the mixed metaphors.
The thing that scares me, and what I think is most likely, is a Romney/Palin or Romney/Bachman ticket. They pair Romney, who stands a decent chance in a general electiona, with an unelectable, fundie veep to appease the base (a la 2008) and they could win, leaving us with a real wackjob a heartbeat away from the presidency. God help us.
I am no Republican, but of all these frontrunners, Jon Hunstman seems the most moderate. A Romney/Huntsman ticket would not be too bad.
At the moment, it looks like it will go down pretty much as outlined above by Wayne. Romney is the only semi-realistic propesctice candidate, which might only be trumped by Palin’s high profile.
It seems like a scary prospect, but neither have a hope of beating Obama.
Unless, of course, the economy tanks over the next 12 months….
Peter,
I agree that Palin may not have a hope of beating Obama, but Romney? You really think he would have NO chance of beating Obama? I don’t know. He appears pretty presidential, and people are scared right now by the economy.
Whether you like it or not folks the truth of the matter is that only Sarah Palin can win the Election in 2012 for the Republican side. So if you do not want Obama to win again then you better go for Sarah Palin right from the start.
Mosig–you’re kidding right? Sarah Palin’s negatives are higher than the tea party.
Jack, I’m not so sure about Romney. He’s stiff, slick and reminds me of the guy who comes into the office when they want to fire people.
Is Palin Going to Run?
Governor Palin made enough statements about running/not running that there is support for any choice she makes. In other words, Palin can do whatver she wants and point to statemnets she has made to support the choice.
Looking at Alaska politics may be the best clue (which I have only a base knowledge), to see the enviroments that Palin entered into to change through her candiancy. Certainly in the governors race a corrupt administration and Republican Party that was raping Alaska for their personal benefits was a key factor. And Palin’s opponents were part of the Alaska Men’s Club with Sarah Palin as the indpependent voice. The point here is that Sarah Palin saw and experienced corruption and was willing to take a stand to reform government.
There has also been a natural progression in Sarah Palin’s political life, all done in the name of public service. If you listen to her address as a newly elected governor you will hear the same language that you hear today. That of an individual seeking public office should do so for the right reasons, and enter that service with a ” servants heart”.
It is the combination of these two factors, reforming and changing the direction of government, and doing so for the right reasons that exist today.
Joe Lierberman is quoted as telling Palin in 2008 (paraphrased), ” You have been given a unique opportunity. It is for you to seize it and fullfill your destiny.” If this is true, then Governor Sarah Palin will run.
I don’t think you get to keep the title if you quit half way through your term.
I really stopped considering her to be a real candidate after the Paul Revere quote. “What did you learn today?” is a “gotcha question?”
I had come to the conclusion Perry and Romney were going to be the big dogs and the rest was a sideshow but I’m getting an impression there is a lot of resistance to Perry. Still, I discount Sarah Palin; she is a celebrity, not a politician. Charlie Sheen attracts crowds, too. I agree Palin can raise money on the Internet but how much did money bombs help Ron Paul?
Peter, the economy IS seriously ailing. If anything topples Obama it will be the economy. It is the reason a primary challenge would be pointless; if the current Democratic administration is doomed because of the economy the electorate will automatically turn to the other party. That is why you see some hoping Romney gets the GOP nod as the most “acceptable” of the group; they are frightened that the Republican victory is inevitable.
Ramory,
My personal dislike of Palin and her politics aside, I have to agree with Emily; If she were a true “public servant” as you claim, she would not have quit the governorship of Alaska before the end of her term to become a talking head on FOX. Based on her record, Sarah Palin is primarily concerned with one issue: Sara Palin.
“If you listen to her address as a newly elected governor you will hear the same language that you hear today.” – ramory webb
Yes, you will. I especially like how her voice suddenly squeals upward when formulating a rambling response to simply questions like “what did you learn today” and “what did you read.”
So, if it is true that Senator Lieberman said something kind to Half Governor Palin in 2008 then she’ll run for President?
Go for it, Sarah! Would love to see it. Obama would make mincemeat out of her. Her record of governance is p**s poor at best and she quit half-way through. That makes for a real confidence booster among the electorate.
Romney and Huntsman is not a viable combination. Two mormons?
I don’t usually do comments, but lately feel that, as a Texan with a working knowledge of politics in Austin, it is something of my duty to spread the warning not to underestimate Perry.
Perry is nothing like Bush. Bush was a pampered dynast that at least took the time to attempt to spin the lie of being a compassionate conservative. Perry came from nothing in no-where Texas and then went into A&M (the place has changed radically since that time, it was all military-culture then); both of which require strength and ambition. He embraces partisanship and the destruction of those that challenge him.
The famous good hair and twang are perfect cover for one of the most aggressive and power hungry politicians there is today. He has never lost and has a seemingly unending pool of luck; nothing negative he does or says is ever really held against him in the long run.
I hope this is a phenomenon that only proves out within the borders of Texas. I hope you are right and that he does fizzle and drops out, but until that time when Perry’s campaign is dead, beheaded, burned and has its ashes scattered across the world…don’t count him out.
Sarah Palin will be the nominee for the Republican Party and will go on to defeat Obama. To all the naysayers,I challenge you to really look at her record not what was told to you.The info is pretty easy to find.Do you really believe Obama was qualified for this job?Do a little research on Gov.Palin and I know you will be surprised at what you find.
Oh, enna, nominating Sarah Palin would be a real way to ensure Obama’s victory. She was a major factor in McCain’s defeat, the vast majority of Americans don’t like her and view her, at best, as comedy fodder at worst as a dangerous crackpot. And, what’s more she’s not seriously considering running–she and Michelle Bachmann take up the same space–and she quit before finishing her term as Governor of Alaska. She couldn’t even make her reality show a hit. Tina Fey as Sarah Palin would have a better chance.
Haha, Enna, you’re dumb.
Oh, and Enna: We WANT somebody as mindblowingly stupid as Sarah Palin to win the nomination. I might even donate money to her campaign if she runs! Why? Palin or Bachmann or Santorum or ANY of the other right wing fundamentalist Christian candidates are SO EMBARRASSING to the great majority of this country — I mean, they’re a national joke! — that Obama will coast to victory whether or not he even campaigns.
At first, I misread the title as “I’m BETTER than Sarah Palin”. Which would also be true.
Enna I agree wholeheartedly with you. The problem with the naysayers of Sarah Palin’s is that they refuse to do their homework when it comes to finding out about those that choose to run for office. They would rather sit back and allow the left-wing media to fill their heads with this hilarious rhetoric where Sarah Palin is concerned. She quit as Governor of Alaska? Do any of you know why she did this? Do any of you have a clue as to anything this woman stands for? Here’s a test, give me 3 things that Sarah stands for on the issues that face this country right now. And don’t revert back to what the left-wing media has drilled into your heads, please. Think for yourselves on this one, if you can. Give me three things that you know of, that this woman stands for on any of the issues. This might require you to get off your butts and do some research, something that I’m not sure any of you know how to do since all I’m hearing is what the lamestream media has brainwashed you all with.
Here’s another test for y’all. Tell me what any of you knew about Obama when he was running for office. His policies. His time spent in the senate, tell me about his record there compared to his record now that he’s been president for almost 3 years. Again, do your own research and don’t give me what you hear the talking heads of the left spouting over the airwaves.
Sarah Palin has been vetted more than any other political figure this country has ever known. There’s not anything the left-wing media can throw at her that they haven’t tried and failed at before. (I’m waiting to hear the usual, ‘You’re so stupid Penny. She said she could see Russia from her house,’ line coming. I’ll wait to address that when it happens and, alas, I know it will happen.) If you want to see stupid, look in the mirror. Stupid is, not doing your homework and allowing someone else to make up your mind for you. Go ahead, believe what the lamestream media is pumping your brains with. This is a challenge to all the naysayers and hate-filled liberals out there who sadly can’t think for themselves and are too lazy to find out the facts on your own, YOU are the reason this country is on it’s knees now. YOU are the reason why we have a complete and utter dimwit as president right now. YOU are the reason why this country is a laughing-stock in this world right now. And YOU are the reason why it will take the caliber of a person, Sarah Palin, to bring this country up from the very depths of hell that YOUR president has gleefully seen us into.
Penny
My mother, a life-long Republican, said BEFORE the presidential election in 2008 that Sarah Palin isn’t even qualified to be dog-catcher. I suspect that many Americans – and Republicans – feel the same way about her. I personally think that McCain chose her ONLY because Obama didn’t choose Hilary Clinton (and I was a McCain supporter in the primaries in 2004, but he lost his mind in 2008.)
And you’re right, I don’t know why she resigned as governor of Alaska.(I suspect that she found she could make a WHOLE lot more money than by working in federal/state government.) It only matters to me THAT she quit…but I’m open to hearing her rationale.
Oh, PennyD, I did my homework too, and I agree with you completely. My homework also drove me to conclude that climate change is a fraud, evolution is a myth, environmentalists are of-the-devil, prayer is the answer to homosexual sin, and the way to achieve energy independence is “drill baby drill.” I want Sarah Palin to be my president because, like you, I can only find contentment with a president who is as delusional and ignorant as I am.
Be very careful what you name your posts; you never know what you are going to attract. There has been an influx of people who have no idea what this blog is about who found the attractive title “I’m Still Betting On Sarah Palin.” I can name three things Palin stands for:
1. Reading. What, you might ask? Well, all of them!
2. ‘Riting; because politics was fun but now that she’s on the national stage the financial opportunities are too good to pass up. There’s gold in them thar hillbillies!
3. ‘Rithmatic; because I didn’t go to Harvard but I can add.
Seriously, here’s three: she’s against same-sex marriage, she sympathetic to the repeal of DADT based on something she retweeted, and she’s against the repeal of DADT because she retweated from the retweet–somebody either explained to Sarah that what she copied would affect her bottom line or what the big words actually meant.
You may want to go to the source of that retweet Edward and see what her take on all of this is. Take a listen. You just might learn something.

Phillip, if you had been listening to anything other than the left-wing media, you would know that the reason Sarah Palin resigned is because of the frivolous lawsuits that the left were bringing against her. Not a one stuck and they are still trying to throw these at her to this day. It was costing the Alaskan tax-payers, along with Palin and her family, to keep having these lawsuits brought against her. What person with any dignity and care about them, would allow this to continue to happen and at the cost of the people of the state that they govern? Not many that I can think of. But because this woman scares the living hell out of the left, they continue to dream up these charges and try to find anything and everything they can to bring her down. Guess what? She’s still standing and standing stronger than ever. (BTW, I’m still waiting on 3 things that Sarah stands on with the issues facing this country right now. I guess it’s taking this long to get the heads out of the sand to do the homework on this to get back to me on. Typical liberal response. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Just more sad and pathetic ignorance that only the left knows how to spout when they can’t come up with facts to debate someone on. That’s okay though. This is exactly what I expected and all of you have passed the test with flying liberal colors.)
Sorry to disappoint you, Penny, but my mother is far from left-wing. And until last year I was registered as a Republican voter…
And Palin doesn’t scare the hell out of me…. because she doesn’t seem very bright.
Why do wingnuts not understand that liberals aren’t scared of Palin? We WANT to run against her, because she is mindblowingly stupid, and a parody of herself. Also, she’s an a*****e and even her own inner circle seems to hate her.
This is so simple.
Good point, Evan. Why are her poll numbers so low even in her home state of Alaska?
Ahh..the ignorance is still showing through, I see. Still nothing on her policy’s or that of what Obama’s stand on the issues were when he was in the senate and where he is now on them as president.
So low, Phillip? How about her 80+ approval rating when she was Governor of Alaska? And how about Obama’s poll numbers now? Yeah, I can see why those who can’t even come up with 3 things that Sarah Palin stands for on the issues, would bring up poll numbers as their only argument against her. It’s quick and more easy to pick that one out over actually researching to find out those answers. I do appreciate the good laughs though, that y’all are providing me. When y’all have the 3 things and, don’t forget, Obama’s stances on the issues as well, get back with me and then we maybe able to have an actual and intelligent debate. I know, I know, it’s all Bush’s fault, as well too!! LOL Or did y’all forget about that left-wing gobbly goop to throw out there too? LOL
I’m happy to learn Palin had an approval rating over 80 when she was Governor of Alaska. That will be very useful if the next Presidential Election involves a time machine and the elimination of 49 other states.
Penny, we can easily dig up three positions Sarah Palin holds on various issues of the day. My question is what is the point of this exercise? Are you trying to convince us to vote for her? Why don’t you give us three positions that Palin has taken that would appeal to LGBT voters if that is your point? I brought up two issues that concern us and her stands on them are lousy. Penny, I think there may be a more productive place you could be spending your time. Spend a Penny somewhere else.
PennyD, what was her approval rating in Alaska after she quit before her job was finished?
PennD–and you’re right, Sarah Palin has been vetted and the public doesn’t want her. But, hopefully the deluded Palinites will prevale and she’ll be the nominee. It’s one of the few sure ways Obama could win–if the Republicans nominated someone that stupid. BTW–one of the reasons she was so popular in Alaska is that she got the oil companies to pay off all the citizens (and let’s be honest–there aren’t that many citizens in Alaska)–she wouldn’t be able to do that for the whole country.
Well, well, well, Phillip, I reckon you’ve got me there. As a matter of fact, I have absolutely no clue where Sarah stands on the LGBT issues. But then again, I’m more concerned about what this country is facing as a whole and not what the government can do solely for me or, if I were a part of a ‘group’, for that ‘group. Take a look at the video I posted above, Phillip. Is this the only issue that matters to you? That Sarah Palin, in your own mind, is against the gay community? Listen to the video, Phillip. Listen to someone who’s been there, done that, and who started asking questions about her own party, the Democratic Party, and who found that the so-called party of inclusion, was the very one holding down the gays and the blacks and the poor. As she says, if you’re unwilling to face the truth, as it may be different from what you’ve been told, you’re just a zombie. You’re nothing. And if this is the only issue that you’re concerned about in a time when this country is on her knees and no hope and change is coming around to save her under this current administration, then I guess a zombie, you’ll stay. And thanks, but no thanks Phillip. I rather like being right here with all of you. See, I’m from the right and from the party of inclusion. Whether you be gay, straight, white, black, rich, poor, I welcome you all. Unlike what y’all are proving the left to be. Since I don’t agree with you, I’m supposed to leave? LOL Yep. Another point proven. Am I trying to get you to vote for Sarah Palin? Of course not Phillip. If you vote, that’s all I care about, whether it be for the Dem’s or the Republican’s, as long as you are on to pull that lever and not one of those who doesn’t vote but screams bloody murder because the government doesn’t do the things you want them to do, I have no problem whatsoever with who you may or may not vote for. There’s is, however, always that hope that all of you will wake up and see the light at the end of this very dismal, very frightening and extremely dire tunnel that Obama and the left have shoved us all into and who are sitting back and enjoying watching this country’s demise. Watch the video Phillip. It may or may not sink in with you and, then again, maybe it will. My hope is, that it will.
Sorry Becky, but Alaskans witnessed a woman who wasn’t afraid to throw out the corrupt politicians who were sinking Alaska further and further into dept to line their own pockets and a woman who stood up the the oil companies when Murkowski and his cronies were doing their back room dealings with the Big 3 and sticking it too the Alaskans in the process while giving tax breaks to the companies. Where is this a bad thing on Sarah’s part? And this is a reason not to vote for her because…………..? Do you even know that the ‘establishment’ on the right doesn’t want her to run for fear of her winning just for this reason? They, along with the Dem’s, are afraid of her because they know that it won’t be, ‘politics’s as usual’ for any of them, if she were elected. Seriously? You would rather have the same ole’ same ole ‘establishment boy’s’ in there doing the same ole’ same ole’ politics that has gotten this country in the p**s poor shape its in now? I’m just not seeing where you’re going with this Becky. That Sarah Palin would open up the drilling in this country to bring her back to life again? That she actually cared about the Alaskan people to bring down the corruption and give back to them what these jokers had taken from them? Yeah, I can see where she would be absolutely horrible for this country.
Penny:
Alaskans witnessed a quitter who felt “called” to be governor, until she was called by reality TV. No one in Alaska can stomach Palin.
The sad part is, reality TV is the closest to reality that ignorant quitter has come. If Palin wins this country is screwed.
Penny, you’re probably not concerned about the rights of LGBT because my guess is that you are not one and they are not your rights that are being denied. Oh, the “spend a Penny” bit was just a joke; keep posting the TL; DR stuff here.
Sorry PennyD, Alaskans witnessed a woman who got bored with the job she was elected to because she’d become a “celebrity” and it’s much easier to make a lot of money giving speeches (for people like you, PennyD, who are too enthralled to realize what an idiot Palin is) than being Governor.
PennyD, you realize this is a GLBT website right? You come on here with no knowlege of Sarah Palin’s stances on gay issues and try to tell us we know nothing about the woman? Who do you think you’re kidding? We probably know far more about her because we’re not blinded by this weird loyalty you and her empty headed followers have.
