Hey Linda Harvey, what’s your mouthhole emanating today?
Right wing and Christian activist Linda Harvey announced on her radio show that the best way to stop the spread of HIV is to close down gay bars.
Harvey, who is a regular columnist for World Net Daily and hosts a local show in Columbus, Ohio, showed no signs of accepting any sort of same-sex interaction.
“So what could we do to make a serious dent in the HIV and syphilis disease track?” she asked. “One obvious approach is to stop promoting homosexual behavior to kids and falsely calling it an identity like race. We could also close down homosexual bars and bathhouses, that would be a start. God never created people to engage in these unnatural acts. “
That’s real American of you, Linda. Instead of suggesting that adults should be able to choose who they have consensual sex with, and encouraging people to have safe sex and get tested and all of those grown-up solutions, the theocratic moron thinks we should close gay bars.
I have a better idea. If Linda is so concerned about the health and well being of gay people, she should be very concerned about the fact that many gay kids don’t make it to adulthood because they take their own lives, due to the bigoted messages they receive from fundamentalist churches and religious organizations like Mission America.
Maybe we should close those.

Make a serious dent in the HIV and syphilis disease track? How about honest, fact based sex education? Teaching kids to take pride and self respect so they want to keep themselves healthy and strong? Works for other industrialized nations.
Someone ask Linda to admit she would rather see gay kids die slowly and horribly then live happy fulfilled lives being honest to themselves.

I think there are two things keeping Harvey from being a Nazi:
1.) The Nazis killed the Jews, and Jews are needed to bring about the End Times….for some reason.
2.) Social stigma prohibits her from donning the uniform.

When a person wants the government to use force to close down social gathering places, such as gay bars,he or she is encroaching on Nazi territory. Harvey, it seems, has crossed that threshold. She is a very sick and disturbed woman. She needs help.
She’s not even TRYING to disguise how much she hates gay people, I’ll give her that much. But it doesn’t makes her any less repulsive.
Have any of the so-called moderate or mainline churches ever issued a statement condemning this vile woman for damaging their brand-image? While those churches quietly portray a loving God, Linda and all the other Fundies loudly portray God as an ignorant hateful vindictive psychopath. And the moderates/mainliners just sit back and allow their God to be redefined.
I understand your frustration Richard. To be fair, a lot of mainliners probably do not know who Linda Harvey is, just like many of the folks at TWO are unaware of everything done in the name of gay rights. There is radical, anarchist pro-gay organization called Bash Back that trashed the HRC headquarters in 2009. I checked the archives, and I did not see an official statement condemning them. I doubt that Wayne and the folks at TWO tacitly support Bash Back and the destruction of property. I’m sure they have better things to do than to address everyone who claims to speak on behalf of gay rights, just as most Christians have better things to do than constantly argue with trolls like Dana Harvey.

I could almost feel sorry for her, but then I remember that her ignorance is willful and based on a hatred that she refuses to relinquish because it is necessary to maintain her worldview.

I would seriously like to know under what law Linda would manage to close down these bars that cater to gay clientele. She seems to think that all sorts of sex happens in these bars. Sure, there are those establishments that allow that sort of intermingling, but most do not. They are just “watering holes”.

Wayne, I think the Nazi analogy isn’t all that far off. Hitler used his version of Christianity to persecute the Jews and others…if she could come up with a way to justify it, she’d be out there goose-stepping and yelling “Sig Heil!” (or the American version thereof).
