Oh, yes. Munich’s Bund Katholischer Ärzte (Union of Catholic Physicians) is combining one bad idea with another in attempting to “treat” homosexuality by means of the quacky pseudoscience homeopathy. Homeopathy is all about like curing like. Did the Bund intend the irony?

Adolph Hitler was baptized and never excommunicated. Every year he was in power, the Vatican wished him a happy birthday. The Wehrmacht uniform belt buckle read “Gott mit uns.” When Hitler had his Anschluss of Austria, he stopped to pray at his mother’s grave in a Catholic cemetery; photos show him flanked by Catholic clergy with swastikas on their religious garments. Many gay concentration camp prisoners were transferred from the camps to German jails and held in them for decades after the war without trial, simply because they were gay; the Catholic Church approved of that and continued to promulgate anti-gay hate speech. The Pope was a Nazi collaborator (and there were Germans his age at the time who resisted the Nazis instead of joining the Hitler Youth). If the Nazis had won the war it is likely that Pope Nazinger would be working for them today.
If there’s one thing more disgusting that the article it’s people who come up with nazi references whenever they see the word “German”.
*than
Besides, if people would actually read into what these crazy people wanted, it should be clear that they sooner or later wanted to get rid of the Catholic Church and install their own form of christianity. I despise both ideologies but this constant “Hitler was a Catholic” is just stupid and by the way doesn’t have anything to do with an article about today’s Germany!
Ich weiss sehr wohl wovon ich spreche.
I’m sure that Christians teaching for over 1900 years that the Jews collectively had to pay for the death of Jesus had nothing to do with Nazi success towards the Endloesung, the Final Solution. Oh no, Christian teaching had nothing to do with it, the Catholic Church had nothing to do with it, how were they to know? (sarcasm). The Church hierarchy had financial resources to leave the areas controlled by the fascists (as affluent intellectuals of good conscience did). The Catholic Church is complicit in the Holocaust and was complicit in the Inquisition too.
As if there were no neo-Nazis in today’s Germany.
a friend of mine who is from Germany has told me that the Nazi movement is alive and well over there.
Just as in the United States, there is good and bad in Germany; I am fluent in that language and love the culture. But I never make excuses for the criminal Catholic Church. Pope Nazinger should take his gay-bashing Bible, stick it down his throat and choke on it.

Yeah,
Except it’s illegal in Germany.
If people like Lou Engle, Bryan Fischer, Scott Lively and Linda Harvey had their way, we’d have camps here too. If these monsters did not have societal restraints, there is no telling the murderous depths they would sink to.
I agree, it is a bit unimaginative to bring up the Nazis whenever Germany is mentioned (don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a little Pope-bashing as much as anyone). Swastikas are even banned in Germany (My old German flatmate told me that when the Tom Cruise movie Valkyrie was released there, all the posters had to be altered so no Swastikas appeared on them. Ridiculous but true.)
The vast majority of Germans that I have met are reasonable, free thinking people who appreciate rationality and no b******t, straight-to-the-point attitudes. They are likely to find the attempt to ‘cure’ homosexuality with homeopathic medicine(essentially water) even more absurd than we do.
As to Wayne’s assertion that Engle, Lively and all the other fundie cretins would have us all put in concentration camps, I have no doubt in my mind that this is exactly what they would have happen if they had their way. a******s.

LOL. Are you SURE they aren’t getting into the sex tourism biz? I can just see all the horny TalEvangical hypocrites cramming their suitcase full of condoms and lube. “Bye honey!” They’ll say to their wives. “I’m off to … to … learn about this great new cure for homosexuality! Don’t wait up.”
“Homeopathy is all about like curing like. Did the Bund intend the irony?”
HA! Hilarious! Brilliant!
