Look, the Archdiocese of Boston has a really long, comprehensive list of all the Catholic priests [just those under their jurisdiction, mind you] who have been convicted, “punished by the church,” and whatever else, for sexually abusing children. As P.Z. points out, it’s a long list!
Thanks for all your moral guidance, Catholic Church. Seriously! You guys keep up the good work and be sure to lecture the stew out of some godless homosexuals today, because seriously, your moral pedestal is completely intact.
What other organization on the planet has a list like this?

“What other organization on the planet has a list like this?”
The Republican Party is probably a distant second, but that’s like comparing kissing cousins amongst socially inbred fascists.
And this is just in Boston??? If this list is extrapolated across the US, nay the world, then the numbers of paedophile priests would be, well, incomprehensible!!!
I am flabbergasted.
I quickly counted about 134 names! OMG! Can you imagine if a gay organization had a list like this?! I’m surprised the RCC released this. I guess they’re trying to ‘come clean’ — too little and WAY too late.
The group that was handled cannonically through laicization were apparently guilty of child rape and nevertheless loosed free on the public where they quite possibly victimized others.
I love that term, “laicizaiton.” Notice how its not “excommunication,” meaning they are still considered Catholics.
So lets break down the morals of the Catholic Church:
Molest a child and ruin his or her life, you still get to be a Catholic and go to heaven.
Deny the existance of an unprovable god and point out that the Bible is a collection of stories that have little bearing on reality and you don’t get to be a Catholic anymore, and you’re going to hell.
How is this still considered a moral institution again?
The Reverend Roy Bourgeois of Louisiana was excommunicated for saying he thought women should be ordained as priests.
Gaaaah! Why are they still relevant?
Oh wait, they really aren’t. At least not here in Boston, where parishes are shuttering in droves.
These people should have been reported to police IMMEDIATELY instead of the bishops playing “musical priests” or laicizing them and turning them loose.
