Michele and Marcus Bachmann are taking to the pages of People magazine to try to pretend they’re not “biased” against gay people. Cute:
In the Oct. 31 issue of People, the couple defended themselves against accusations of harboring an anti-gay bias. “There’s never been a bias,” Marcus Bachmann said. “I’m no better than anyone else,” Michele added.
We’re not biased! We just want to change people’s sexual orientation and use the power of government to deny gay people their constitutional rights! But it’s not bias!
The part I find interesting, though, is that People also talked to Michele’s stepsister Helen LaFave, who is a lesbian:
“Yes, we are family and love each other, but she seems to have a disconnect. Her statements and actions related to gay rights are very hurtful, whether she understands that or not.” Their once-close relationship reportedly strained over Bachmann’s anti-gay activism.
Yeah, it’s kind of hard to actually love a family member when you’re willing to hurt them in order to appeal to voters, or when you have a happy lesbian stepsister whose life you refer to as being in “bondage” or “personal enslavement.” But I guess we all have different definitions of love…

I don’t think this woman even listens to what she is saying. And I wish I didn’t have to. But failing to listen to her (or the other swine in the GOP line-up) is not an option, as they can and do wreak real damage on our community. As with all of the other anti-gay evangelicals, Michele Bachman gives off a serious vibe as a someone with a sociopathic personality disorder.
Never mind Bachmann’s sister for the moment. The greater concern should be over her brother Dr. Paul Amble, who works as one of her campaign spokesman. He told The New York Times that he thinks his sister “means well” when it comes to LGBTers. Meanwhile, though, he is a forensic psychiatrist working for the state of Connecticut, and a Yale professor. He refuses to tell the media whether rumors that in his private CT practice he carries out “Pray the gay away” therapy are true. He won’t give the press any statement about homosexuality that conflicts with what his sister says. Who knows what kind of a hostile work environment for gay people he could be creating in his CT jobs? Who knows if, when LGBTers are involved in his state forensic work, he can be impartial towards them?
THAT’S what we want – a President who means well. Especially when she opens her mouth to foreign dignitaries representing the USA to the world. She means well. She’s a Sarah Palin clone and that says it all.
