Bethie, you’re bullying.
Matthew 12:36 But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken.
bethie: you barfing out bible verses doesn’t make you look like an Intelligent Christian. We have lots of those who comment here. It just makes you look like a particularly stupid robot.
Bethie
All your posts are driving me farther from the love of God.
I’m not blaming you, I’m THANKING you.
Evan, do you believe the word of God is the will of God?
Bethie, what determines, in your eyes, what sex a person is? Their genitalia, or their DNA?
Phillip J
With or without me God loves you anyway.
Well, that is God’s choice :-)
But I have questions that neither Christianity nor the Bible can begin to answer, which is why I left Christianity in the first place.
Fortunately my (concept of) God is bigger than your (concept of) God.
Phillip
God determined what sex a person is by design.
Genesis 1: Male and Female He created them.
Thank you for your NON answer, Bethie.
It’s a simple question…. according to you, or God, which determines one’s sex, DNA or genitalia?
I am going to say genitalia for the most part because that is what Adam and Eve covered by fig leaves.
I also believe there are other factors such as emotional makeup and other attributes that make men and women different yet in a complimentary way. VIVA LA DIFFERENCE.
Is that a reasonable enough answer?
Thanks for answering that :-) That answer is very reasonable.
There are babies born, though, which have male DNA and (external) female genitalia (no internal female organs, just a very short vagina). They are identical to female babies on the outside, so they can’t be called the old term of “hermaphrodite”. They have a condition called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome; their bodies cannot process androgen.
Which sex are these babies?
@PhillipJ — Whatever they, individually, identify as.
Okay, so Bethie’s just goofing. It’s all been a joke. She’s not serious. Goodbye Bethie.
Bethy, Bethy, Bethy! What is this “word of god” you keep yammering about? Didn’t I tell you that you must provide us with materially verifiable evidence that your holey book is something special? You were ignoring me! You make an absolutely unsubstantiated claim when you proffer the bible as being an historically true account of anything, let alone some local god (Yahweh) communicating to the rest of us.
Bethy, when you are able to present to us substantiated and testable evidence that your particular god is real and that he has “spoken” to us via the writers of your bible, I for one will willingly listen to what you have to say. Until then, I will treat what you have to say like I take mormon or muslim proselytizers; with a proverbial grain of salt. I’m waiting Bethy!
Thanks, WMDKitty, I was getting to that point, albeit slowly… :-) (And I agree with your answer.)
But I’m really wanting Bethie to answer my question…
Okay after a night’s sleep (and need some breakfast) I am going to come back to Phillip J’s comment as he has been patiently waiting and he asked a tough question I will admit concerning the rare cases of intersex babies.
Even though God created the earth perfectly, it soon brought destruction upon itself with the onset of human sin (Romans 5:12). Thousands of years later as sin continues to permeate the world, the human race has been bombarded with every kind of sickness, disease, disorder and birth defect we can imagine. Yet, we humans live in a fallen state – and in a fallen world – which impacts us spiritually, emotionally, mentally and even physically.
Indeed, there are a number of genetic, biological and congenital conditions that manifest themselves in ways that preclude certain activities and plague our physical existence. Despite the fact that a tiny fraction of the population faces life with an intersex condition, Scripture teaches that humans are made in God’s image as male and female, and that there’s a complementarity of the sexes that uniquely brings forth new life and – mysteriously – reflects who God is (Gen. 1:27)
Humbly admitting that I don’t have all the answers, nor always we able to fully understand this issue through God’s plan and His eyes. However, I can say that God intimately knows and loves every person made in His image with a deep and abiding love – reflecting the fact that all are of inestimable value and worth. Regardless of what disorder or ailment any of us might have, we are each “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139) and have value in the sight of God.
As with the blind man. Jesus disciples asked him ‘why was this man born blind? Was it a result of his own sins or those of his parents?’ ‘It was not because of his sins or his parents’ sins,’ Jesus answered. ‘He was born blind so the power of God could be seen in him’” (John 9:2-3).
And my response to Paul Douglas. Sorry I didn’t get back sooner.
This is how I came to believe that this Holy Book is the Word of God. Growing up in “the church” all my life I came to the realization that something was still missing in my life and my heart wasn’t satisfied just with “religion.” Just going to church WASN’T ENOUGH or having a head knowledge of the Bible wasn’t enough.
You see someone told me that God loved me and had a plan for my life but my life was still void. I was told that Jesus came to give eternal life – and life abundantly (John 10:10). I asked JESUS into my heart, my sins were forgiven and I became a child of God. The evidence I have is my testimony because when I got saved the Word became real in my life because God speaks to us through his word and answers prayer specifically. Because I believe His word is life and I know it is true because He answered my prayers. This book is a blueprint for living, is a book of redemption from Gen to Revelation.. The gospel of John is what I recommend for the first book to begin with.
Bethie said “With or without me God loves you anyway.”.
Right, he’ll just eternally torture you if you reject his “love”. God is like a wife-beater.
Bethie said “Even though God created the earth perfectly, it soon brought destruction upon itself with the onset of human sin”.
If it was perfect it wouldn’t have brought destruction on itself. As your god is all-knowing and all-powerful if he wanted the world to be different than it is it would be. The world now is exactly as your god wants it, full of evil, destruction, and hate.
Bethie I know you’ll agree its wrong to punish someone for something they haven’t done the foundation of your religion is that your god punishes future generations for the action of Eve. Can’t you see your god is unjust? Does it make any sense to you that people should inherit the guilt of their ancient ancestors?
And speaking of Eve, if she didn’t have the knowledge of good and evil before she ate the fruit, how was she supposed to know it was wrong to do that. How do you explain the injustice of your god punishing her for something she didn’t know was wrong.
PRIYA LYNN
God doesn’t want the world filled with evil and hate and he doesn’t want to torture anyone.
The consequences of our disobedience is something that we brought on ourselves from the beginning of time.
Adam and Eve died and did not die immeidiately. Eve also knew that they were not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. When they disobeyed God’s command they died spiritually and this separation came from THEIR disobedience: they were removed from a place where they had direct fellowship and contact with God, and could not go back.
They did not experience immediate physical death, but they did eventually die; it may be that the process of aging and decay started on the day they ate the fruit. The eternal separation is from our Adamic nature and by “default” we are separated from God that is why there is sin and death in the world 10 out of 10 people die.
(Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God).
The GOOD NEWS:
Romans 5:8. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
JESUS is the Bridge over troubled waters who can bring us back to God.
I’ve always wondered and never gotten an answer that addressed this: If God is all knowing, past, present, and future, then He knew that Eve would partake of the fruit bearing the forbidden knowledge (which, by the way, was SEX. Hence their shame about being naked immediately after partaking.) and tempt Adam (naughty Eve) He knew this before he ever decided to create anything. He knew he would then punish them etc, etc, etc. This being the case, He stacked the deck knowing full well all that was going to happen and what He was going to do. They had to suffer his punishment because He stacked the deck against them. Then it was their responsibility to forever beg Him for forgiveness. AND all future generations would suffer the stain of this Original Sin and have to beg Him for forgiveness for something of which all of us are completely innocent. Makes sense, right? In a pig’s eye!
Bethie, who I’m sure is a decent person and certainly entitled to believe whatever she chooses, is typical of the type – even if something makes no sense at all, it’s credited to God. Hooray, we’re off the hook as far as making some realistic sense out of all this. The discussion will always be turned back to God, whether the answers are sensible or not. It’s all a believer can address and say. Luckily, they always have the Bible and someone to interpret God’s wishes and condemnations for them. That’s why they consider us “abominations” – IT SAYS SO IN THE BIBLE! Well, my answer to that is that if God created me and didn’t want me to be gay, the HE should have done a better job. I had no hand in it and didn’t choose any feelings in that respect.
“God doesn’t want the world filled with evil and hate and he doesn’t want to torture anyone.

Sooooooo tired of this worn out diatribe. As well as tired of believers like you, Bethie, who somehow think that repeating the same old b******t for the millionth time will suddenly turn off all your intended victims’ rational faculties – and we will all be one big, happy, mindless, saved set of xenophobes just like you.
Believe or die. Your God is a bully. Everything bad that happens to you is your fault because scifi-story Adam and Eve. Your God is still a bully. Gay is abomination. Your God is a bully. Gays do not deserve equal treatment under the law, because abomination. Your God, and now YOU are bullies. Endless witnessing to “save” my gay soul by you because you believe said harassment is condoned, even mandated, by your God. You and the God you rode in on are both bullies.
You have no interest whatsoever in listening to any of us, you only just show up here to tell us how right you are and how wrong we are. It is not harassment of the faithful when I, as the receiver of all the above bullying, get fed up with the lack of respect and angrily tell you to go f**k yourself.

Bethie said “PRIYA LYNN God doesn’t want the world filled with evil and hate and he doesn’t want to torture anyone.”.
Wrong Bethie. He knew the world would turn out this way when he created it. If he had wanted it to be different he would have created it differently as he is all powerful. The world is exactly as your god wants it.
Bethie said “Adam and Eve died and did not die immeidiately. Eve also knew that they were not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. “.
But Eve didn’t know it was wrong to disobey her god because she didn’t yet have the knowledge of good and evil. Your god unjustly punished her for actions she had no way of knowing were wrong – your god is a monster.
Yes, I stand on the promises of God. I am a sinner, yes a sinner saved by grace. Time is short, eternity is near.
Later…..
Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Stop feeding the troll, y’all.
Oh Cripes Bethie, if a Muslim were trying to convince you of the truth of Islam by parroting verses from the Koran at you, would it work?! People here who have different or no religious beliefs are unmoved by your Stepford Church Lady scripture quoting. I’m one of those horrid, liberal Episcopalians (you know the ones who ordain partnered gay bishops and bless same-sex unions) who believes that the Bible is a mixture of history remembered, myth and metaphor. Genesis definitely falls into that later category. It doesn’t mean that it has nothing of value to teach us about the human condition, but to take all of it as some type of factual dictation from God to an evangelist-secretary makes you (and the rest of us) look absurd and naive beyond belief.
BTW, which ‘version’ of Genesis do you think is the correct one? the one where men and women were created simultaneously or the one where man was created first and then woman from his rib while he slept. And then there’s the part from esoteric Judaism where Adam’s first wife, Lilith, was kicked out of Paradise for not being subservient to Adam. She turned into a pissed off demon who spent most of her free time killing infants in their cribs (what we now call SIDS).

Evan is right. Bethie is not going to supply any rational, logical, realistic answers because she doesn’t have any. It’s always the same repetitious b******t that all faithful Bible thumpers toss out ad nauseam.
