I could spend a lot of time rebutting this List of Whine Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission has put out, pointing out, as Joe does, that the one incident that approached violence on the list was probably a hoax, but I think I’ll just remind readers of how sadly often we have had to report in the year 2011 of gay teens taking their own lives due to relentless bullying for their sexuality or their perceived sexuality. Then I would also like readers to remember where anti-gay messages originate, and who gives tacit permission to bullies.
Then read Gary Cass whining about how “victimized” fundamentalists are.

They really hate it when gay people are treated like human beings whose lives have value, don’t they?
Neat. I left a comment on their blog. Doubt the moderator will let it be posted. You know, since I put thought into it.
What whining liars they are.
Bill @ 1 is right. Six of the ten above involved lgbt people. They just can’t seem to stop obsessing about us — until and unless they find another scape goat to project all of their venomous personal misery onto. Happy fulfilled people don’t have any desire to trash and bash others. Underneath all those sacrine fundamentalist smiles and glazed eyes are a bunch of really insecure, frightened and bitter people. What did Christ call them — white washed tombs. Yup that about sums it up.
Why is it an anti-christian act to boycott a christian business, but it ok for them to launch boycotts of their own. They also launch campaigns to urge businesses not to “take sides in the culture war,” unless, of course, its THEIR side…
Hypocritical asses.
The sarcastic quotation marks around words like wedding and celebrate show immaturity. One thing to remember is that evangelical christianity as expressed in America today is narcissistic, adolescent, and terribly self-absorbed. That’s one reason its members play the victim card all the time, even though they are the bullies, and their condemnation of others leads to real world violence and suicide. Even the leaders of these goofy evangelical churches are so self obsessed that their sermons are a constant rehash of what God told them and what God is doing with them and what they are personally going through–it’s extremely self-focused and really adolescent. That’s what we’re up against, an extremely powerful minority with the emotional maturity of a nine year old.
Yeah, PJB, we’re supposed to continue to frequent Chik-Fil-A, even though that company turns around and gives OUR money to anti-gay causes.
Logically, then, the bigots should continue to frequent businesses which support the ACLU (or whatever progressive organization horrifies them the most). It’s only fair!
So, you’re right, PJB, it’s a screaming abomination if we do a boycott, but it is right, just, and fair if THEY do a boycott! Hypocrites.
Neal, you put it very well.
Hell, Neal, I’ve known SIX YEAR OLDS with more emotional maturity than dipsticks like Porno Pete or Bam-Bam Whomever.
But your point is well-taken. If the gay guys I know acted like the fundie drama queens I’d tell them to “butch up”. And this is coming from a queen!
I guess he compiled this list before “Saturday Night Live” aired that Tim Tebow sketch. (One year his list included an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm”)
Speaking as an ordained minister (heh), I don’t see much “turning the other cheek” there (Matthew 5:39).
They fail as Christians as well as human beings.
Let’s not forget that the second one is a confirmed hoax.
