We’re very used to Peter LaBarbera seeing any signs of affection exchanged between two people of the same gender and immediately conflating it with Hot Sex, but usually he does it with men. [Haha, I see what I did there.] We’re not used to seeing him do it with women. [Zing!]
No, seriously, though, Peter LaBarbera saw the now historic picture of the first same-sex Navy “first-off-the-ship” kiss, and immediately his mind went to sex. He said the following not-so-smart thing on Janet Mefferd’s radio program:
As far as the lowlights, I have to say that the worse would be what’s happened in the military, we just saw the story—we were talking about it off air—of the traditional first kiss of a Navy ship just went to two lesbians intentionally. Under Obama’s Navy, lesbians get the first traditional kiss; the sailor comes off the boat greeted by his spouse which is a woman usually, man-woman, woman-man, but now under Obama this political correctness we’re going to pretend that homosexuality belongs in the military. And actually Obama posted the photo of these two women kissing on his Flickr page which to me is another first—a president posting an indecent photo on his Flickr page because homosexual sex and homosexual practice is still indecent. It doesn’t matter what the trends say what the political correctness says, it matters what the truth is, and we go by the word of God and that’s indecent behavior. And to see our president glorifying it and saying this is one of his greatest accomplishments is really a sad day.

You have to be kinda weird to look at that picture and see nothing but sex. I would hate to imagine a life where I couldn’t recognize the sheer elation of love and reunion without my bigotry getting in the way. It almost makes me feel sorry for Porno Pete.

As a spouse who has spent more than my share of time waiting at a pier or other location for my Marine husband to return from some deployment or whatever, I can say that picture is anything BUT sexual! Just because it happened to be 2 women instead of one of each gender, doesn’t make it dirty–well not to those who actually have learned to do our own thinking. It’s those morons who would rather let someone else, even some poor sot like Porno Pete, do it for them who would see anything more in that than what is there. There is nothing indecent in that picture. It’s sweet! And every time I see it, I smile. Porno Pete and his cohorts can go pound dirt!
I could be mistaken, but I thought I had read somewhere that the couple who’s selected for this, wins it through some type of lottery; it just happened to be a lesbian couple this time around.

Since this was done through a lottery (as tradition dictates) and it was pure random chance that the sailor won the privilege of being the first to kiss her wife on the pier, then doesn’t that mean God chose this to happen and not President Obama? So, shouldn’t Mr. LaBarbara be mad at the Almighty who is infallible in his actions instead our deeply human and flawed president? Just saying….

Well, I’m sure Porno Pete is just basing his objections on what the Bible says about lesbians, which is….uh…I’m sorry, can someone find me the parts of the Bible that deal with lesbians? Anti-gay activists typically have filthy minds. One wonders if their creepy obsession with the intimate loving lives of God’s gay children extends to those choosing the heterosexual lifestyle? If they concentrated on their own sexual proclivities, there might be less adultery and divorce.

So in short, it looks like a romantically-involved couple kissing.
But I don’t look at this and see porn, or SEXXX. This is a g-rated kiss. This could be in a Disney princess movie (if disney ever made a movie with 2 princesses).
Can someone tell if in ANY of the wingnut denunciations or lamentations or pearl-clutching about this picture, even ONE of these self-appointed judges said “First, I want to thank these women’s service in the defense of MY freedoms, but that said…”
