Spain’s newspaper El Pais reports that the Bishop of Córdoba, Demetrio Fernández, gave a speech on Boxing Day (Dec. 26) in which he revealed an interesting belief:
[The bishop] said there was a conspiracy by the United Nations. “The Minister for Family of the Papal Government, Cardinal [Ennio] Antonelli, told me a few days ago in Zaragoza that UNESCO has a program for the next 20 years to make half the world population homosexual. To do this they have distinct programs, and will continue to implant the ideology that is already present in our schools.”
Wikipedia’s page on the Cardinal calls his views moderate and says he’s an advocate for social justice. A quick Google search doesn’t turn up any refutation of Fernández’ attribution of this view to him. I’ve contacted the Vatican Information Service to ask whether Cardinal Antonelli would verify this statement.

I thought the Vatican just entered the 20th century when they recently said that homosexuality isn’t a choice and that we’re born that way, even though ‘we are called to live a celibate life’. So how can UNESCO ‘make half the world homosexual’? Apparently Bishop Demented Fernandez hasn’t been keeping up on his papal Bulls(hit).
Well, this sure would make getting a date easier…
Wouldn’t it have some positive effects if half of the palnets overpopulation was gay and adopted children rather than adding to the overpopulation? :P
Seriously, these conspiracy theories get me chuckling every time…
