If ladies of the Left testify, they will testify they need free birth control and have a “right” to it. If a hearing were to be held against the policy of providing food stamps to ladies already on disability and unearned income refunds[welfare ], Democratican ladies receiving it would testify they need it and have a right to it. Anyone on any government handout, like free ontraception, would testify they need it and it is a right. It is human nature. Give ME the money.
Between this and Hannity’s all-male panel on women’s reproductive issues the other night, I’m speechless.
Frederick, no one said ‘free’. The issue is about medical insurance paying for it, which ‘the ladies’ and the men in their lives pay into. The courts have already ruled that contraception care and counseling is integral to quality health care.
Fred, the cost of contraception is a very small price to pay compared to the financial and social costs of people bearing children they don’t want, can’t afford, and/or are not psychologically/emotionally equipped to care for.
I would also support a requirement forcing insurance companies to cover abortions – because that is also a small price to pay compared to the alternatives noted above. But I think there should be a small co-pay to encourage people to use contraception instead.
I would even go further by supporting ads on billboards, buses, and elsewhere to publicize the availability of contraception and abortions.

Maybe we should demand aging men stop receiving their little boner pills and weenie-vacuums for free (typically via Medicare/Medicaid). The RRRWers are so fond of saying sex is only for reproductive purposes so why are we paying for men clearly past reproductive age to get laid?
There seems to be no end to the dickishness of the GOP.
The entire party seems to be populated by mysoginistic a******s who have no compuction in lying, twisting the facts, and manipulating people to accept their medieval agenda.
It’s as if they have no self-awareness, no realisation that they are going out of their way to make other’s lives miserable.

This too is wrong. Wrong+wrong=wrongs. Healthcare should be free to patients and paid for by other patients and non-patients? Transportation (planes, trains, and automobiles) should be free to travelers and paid for by other travelers and non-travelers?
Clothing should be free to those who wear it and paid for by those who wear it and those who don’t?
OK libruls, where does it stop? Will there be any end to demands that the government should pay for things? Can any of you tell me where the end of this foolishness is?

I am British, where we have the NHS. There may be some faults and failings with this institution, but it certainly has not lead to the Marxist Utopia that you seem to be portraying.
Over here, we do not beleive that healthcare is a privilege that needs to be paid for upon receipt, but medical attention is a RIGHT enjoyed by all. NO-ONE should be denied care just because they cannot afford it.
Not being willing to pay a few extra tax dollars so that ALL your fellow Americans can receive care when they need it is extreme selfishness to the point of barbarism.
Have you no empathy? Have you no charitable feelings at all to those less fortunate than yourself?
We grew out of that “f**k ‘em” attitude a long time ago.

Do you not have any understanding of the concept of insurance? Do you have car and/or homeowners insurance? If so, and your house burns down, the insurance company pays to rebuild the house – thanks to everyone who pays premiums. Do you have a problem with that?
Governments have been forced to get involved with health insurance because private companies either can’t or won’t do the job, and too many people don’t want to pay for insurance until they get sick. And then there are many who can’t afford insurance, and are forced to utilize expensive hospital emergency facilities.
OMG Fred, health care (and food and clothes) are human rights. How could you possibly conflate that with taking a plane or a train? That’s a perfect example of the difference between the intelligent, nuanced ‘librul’ mind and the simplistic black/white NON-mind of the average neocon/tea-bagger.
Str8 men are such bozos. Nature endows men with an almost overwhelming need for sometimes frequent sex that reproduction is the furthest thing from a man’s mind. He just needs the relief and wants it from a woman’s vagina. Of course, she gets to carry and give birth and nurse and care for the resulting child. It goes without saying that sex is an exquisitely pleasurable thing and that pleasure-response embeds itself in the mind along with the physical need. So, in my simple thinking, it seems that a woman may not want to get pregnant each and every time she and her partner have sex or even take the chance on that happening. Contraception is the answer. That simple interdiction between the sperm and egg saves untold personal worry, misery, concern, and possible abortion.
So, being that she may not want the burden of a pregnancy and birth, it seems she ought to have at least a say in the legal decision-making on the subject. But, str8 men being what they are, will relieve women of that burden and make the decisions for them. Way to go, boys! You want the vagina so much, but, lordy don’t let the women have an easier time of avoiding having your baby.

Yes I do. Insurance, voluntarily paid for upfront when not needed, pays off after an expensive event, when needed. This precludes the librul conception that health insurance should pay for an event that took place before the insurance was purchased (the pre-existing condition). This is also the present Administration’s fallacious conception.
The so-called healthcare insurance is not voluntary and covers pre-existing conditions. It is NOT insurance. Insurance companies are merely being used by the Administration to do all the paperwork and write all the checks. The government will make all decisions about what will be covered.
By the way I want to thank this blog and many of the commenters for the opportunity to present my views and for their thoughtful responses.
