If anyone is ‘obsessed with sex’ and ‘needs therapy’ it’s santorum and his fellow wingnuts.

OK–it may be because I’m too young to get the reference, but I’ve been racking my brain all day to try to understand this ‘aspirin between the knees’ thing. WTF? I mean, in context it’s probably ignorant b******t, but…curiosity for how ridiculous it actually is is killing me. Could someone please explain?

Okay Liz, I’ll bite.
Ummmm . . . As long as an aspirin tablet remains between a woman’s knees, she’s not spreading her legs, and thus the aspirin is effective as a contraceptive. I’m old enough to remember when aspirin was probably the most commonly used drug. That was in the days before Tylenol, Advil, Excedrin, Motrin, etc.

God, the sanctimoniousness of these people. They ABSOLUTELY would not be saying these things if they could get pregnant themselves. Right-wingers, yeesh.

*sigh* Yeah…yeah, that was what I suspected he meant. I just wasn’t prepared to accept that level of asshattery without making very, very sure I wasn’t missing something. Wow, I’m not sure whether to laugh or just facepalm myself into a concussion.

Oh My God..I just want to slap that s**t-eating grin off his ugly face! I know, I know..gotta stand in line…I just love how that same ugly face would be spitting fire if he had to support even one of those children that he is demanding be brought into the world whether the woman wants to be a mother or not. If they want to have a say in whether or not a woman gets pregnant, then they need to be willing to support the child that will result from that pregnancy. But that’s asking for a socialist state I guess and is thus evil in their pea brains. UUUGGHH..

Maybe women should use the Lysistrata method of birth control. That should get men off this rabid control-freak kick right quick.

All I can think of is that scene in “Billy Jack” where he tells the smirking corrupt mayor that hes going “to take my foot and wup you on this side of your head, and theres not a damn thing you can do about it.”

Such an ugly, ugly comment. Why does it evoke an image of a woman’s knees being pried apart to be forced into sex? Comments like these illustrate some of the deeply ingrained beliefs still in existence. Many readers may find such a comment “before their time” but remember that this is real living male with great wealth and power saying and believing such archaic things.

why are people so mad??? if you don’t want to risk having children, don’t have sex. that is the only guaranteed way to avoid pregnancy. i dont know why people are so upset – it is the truth.

Why are people so mad? Because decent Americans don’t believe we should allow the government to force its way into the bedrooms, families and personal, private medical decisions of other Americans. Radical conservatives want to use Big Government to impose their specific “religious beliefs” on the rest of us. It’s unamerican and unchristian and it rightfully upsets real Americans.

It’s simple – sex is not the enemy. Demonizing sexuality is pointless and counter-productive. The War on Sex is being waged by the Right and it’s squarely about putting shame on women for doing it. None of these people are against Viagra coverage. If they just called off their war and promoted safe sex and family planning, there would be fewer unplanned pregnancies and abortions.

That’s the problem Bonnie, they never will. Their arrogance will forbid them from admitting they are wrong about anything. Therefore they can never be trusted in any position of power. With that in mind, they will have to be relieved of such responsibility, as they have shown themselves time and again incapable of handling it.

They don’t really care about unplanned pregnancies. If they did, they would realize how badly their precious abstinence plan failed in the Bible belt, the area with the highest rate of unplanned pregnancies.
For them, it’s not about solving problems. It’s not about making life better for all citizens. It’s only about power. What better way to ‘enjoy’ (abuse in this case) the power they wield than to reduce anyone not in their clique to the level of peons?
OMG. Can we say gender gap?
