Go read this post from Thers on how Rick Santorum loves to talk about social issues, except when he’s asked about them, at which point it’s the “liberal media” asking him gotcha questions. It’s pretty funny, and shows just how full of it Republicans are when they say they don’t want to be distracted by social issues. Ridiculous on its face. The current crop of Republicans is far more concerned with controlling people’s sex lives than they are with anything resembling governing the country.

I heard someone being interviewed on Ed Schultz radio and he was saying that the ‘social issues’ are all the redumblicans have left. The economy is improving and Obama’s approval rating is still climbing. The only thing they have is attack gays, attack women’s control over their own bodies and that hot unresolved issue from the early 60s — contraception. How can they lose with such an advanced and insightful platform?
First, let me say that I am a Republican, been one all my life. To say that in the last decade the Republican party has become an extension of fundamentalist religions doesn’t describe the condition of the party today. What a disgusting and shameful mess they are. Rick Santorum? Beyond me why any, except those with a delusional Christian mindset, would even waste a minute listening to this jerk. Like banning abortion and contraception would solve all the economic ills of the country. Would give us greater standing among nations or improve security. He is a shithead. His only intention is to promote laws that will infringe on our intimacies, our privacy, our desire to live our own lives as equal citizens in this country, etc. He is a shithead in a sweater vest. He promotes nothing of any value in leading this country. He is just a sanctimonious scold and we must be made to tow the holier-than-thou line as demonstrated by s**t-for-brains.
Respectfully Gianni, I WAS a republican for most of my life, and as a gay man, woke up and smelled the coffee (and stench of corruption you described above), and also realized that only the democrats (while far from perfect) actually gave a damn about gay people like me. And immigrants. And Women. And rights of other minorities. And the poor….
Time to take the plunge and leave the asylum Gianni.
