This is what it looks like when hate groups like the Family Research Council really start losing it:
Consider this thought experiment. Twin brothers announced on a TV talk show that they were gay. Under the laws proposed, can they marry? If not, why not? They’ve certainly had a “committed relationship” since before they were born. What constitutional principle could you invoke to say these twins cannot marry each other? And if these twin brothers may marry, why not a twin brother and sister? Dick Cheney probably never met Mae West. For younger readers unfamiliar with one of Hollywood’s original blond bombshells, I’ll simply say: sailors in World War II called their large life jackets Mae Wests. (This is a family blog, after all.) Mae West famously said: “Marriage is a great institution, but I’m not ready for an institution.” How strange that Mae West had a better understanding of civil marriage than a former Vice President of the United States, a man who was twice elected to national office by pro-family voters.
For those trying to keep up at home, blah blah blah, twins, Mae West was hot and said something funny, therefore Dick Cheney sucks.

um….the same principle that currently prevents male/female siblings from marrying? duh!
So, there’s fraternal twins, one boy and one girl. What’s to keep them from marrying under current law? What does a “gays can marry” law have to do with this? And what of same-sex twins where one is gay and one is straight (these sorts of people’s favorite type of twins: to show it’s not genetic or something, ignoring different birth weights and other factors, etc?) Will the hetero twin go gay just to get married to his gay twin, now that that could be legal? And why do the twins have to announce on TV that they are gay? Couldn’t they not be public figures at all; you know, just live down the block. And then using the very gay friendly (if old pictures are to be believed,) Mae West, as their role model? She who broke every sexual taboo she could find to break? She who was in court constantly for thumbing her nose at conventions, traditions, laws and censorship? She who, by her very statement quoted, said marriage was crazy and not for her? Egad, what kind of mush-logic do these people thrive on? And why have they not thanked gay men everywhere for providing the FRC with jobs? For what would they do without us?
Number of people advocating same-sex marriage legalization – countless masses of supporters in every state.
Number of people advocating legalization of bestiality, pedophilia, polygamy, necrophilia, and uh sibling marriage – I’ve heard of one or two (I’m counting NAMBLA as 1).
Slippery slope FAIL.
The PFOX blog has headlined this as “Fomer [sic] VP Dick Cheney Lobbying for Genderless Marriage in Maryland”. I tried yesterday to post the following comment:
“Whether a sexual relationship be between partners of different genders or between partners of the same gender, each partner in the relationship will have a gender, male or female as the case may be. Therefore, irrespective of whether or not we think that the relationship should be called a marriage, how can it be ‘genderless’? I don’t get it.”
Quite a courteous comment, not containing anything libellous or obscene, yet PFOX’s moderation has not allowed it to appear. I wonder why.
