Tonight, we got to delight in the complete ignorance, incompetence, and buffoonery of Sarah Palin. She is the unqualified VP pick of Sen. John McCain, who clearly, in this case, put his political hopes before the good of his country.
Imagine if McCain would have won and then passed away. The traumatized nation would have been stuck with President Palin, who very well may have destroyed America. At least what was left of it to screw up after eight horrifying years of George W. Bush.
The two-hour movie, Game Change, showed that Palin is significantly dumber and less prepared for the big show than her fiercest critics could ever have imagined. For example, in the movie she thought the Queen of England actually ran the United Kingdom’s foreign policy and dealt directly with the President. She had no idea why North and South Korea were different countries. The VP pick thought we were attacked on 9-11 by Saddam Hussein. Palin had no idea what the Fed was, even as America careened towards an economic collapse.
I’d love to know what our readers think of Game Change. Please weigh in and offer your opinions.

OMG, I absolutely LOVE the first paragraph of the above article!!!
“Tonight, we get to delight in the complete ignorance, incompetence, and buffoonery

this case, put his political hopes before the good of his country.”
shiuld have been done by tina fey as lead!
Re:#2 then it would have been a comedy and not taken as a serious account of the Sarah Palin selection as McCain’s running mate.
The film actually portrayed Palin in a sympathetic light. But, she had no clue what running for political office entails, especially at the national level. Alaska does not count cause although it has a large land mass, it’s issues, politically are minor in comparison to other states because of its history both economically and geo-politically. McCain comes off as a smart, wise poliitical player who seeks to be honest with his personal political ideology. Palin had no business being in the position she was in let alone the governor of a state. Unless that state wanted to be run like a ward in a section of a city. Those are two different animals.
Popularity is not a substitute for political intellect.
I visited Conservatives4Palin. One Palin cultist misnamed the film “Game Changer” yet again making the grifter the center of the universe. The best comment compared Tom Hanks to Leni Riefenstahl! It really showed their confusion of mind because by the end of the comment the poster went on to say Hanks was nothing like the talented Riefenstahl and Riefenstahl collaborating with the Nazis was apparently a good thing because so many wonderful filmmaking techniques emerged.
It is sad to think that the foundations of selection for a vice presidential candidate can be solely based on a win. guess it is totally up to the voter to do his or her research before going to the polls to ultimately choose a path to their future. The movie was certainly an eye opener for me as I listened to the positive response from CNN!
Well, we gay folks, as targets of unsubstantiated and delusional character assassinations, should be extremely wary of targeting others with unsubstantiated and delusional character assassinations. And what has happened here is simply deplorable. You have no evidence that Palin would have made a horrible president other than she’s a Republican and you knew nothing of her before her pick as VP. And you mischaracterize her quitting — for you don’t mention the near 100 lawsuits filed against her that would have consumed her time as governor anyway. Meanwhile, Obama’s pick as VP, Joe Biden is a gaffe filled liar and plagiarizer with a metal plate in his head from his partial lobotomy. Oh my, he was even forced off the presidential campaign trail years ago for these very qualities. Not to mention he was vociferously as anti-gay marriage as Palin was during the campaign. Now he’s a heart beat from the presidency. Peachy, eh?
As for the “horrifying” Bush years, oh, well, when in comparison with Obama, let’s take a look: Guantanamo? Still open. Waging wars without congressional approval? Ongoing, possibly escalating. Intrusions by government into citizen’s lives? No different. Patriot Act? Re-enacted. Deficits? Oh my, the “horrifying” Bush deficits of $200 billion a year or so, until the last year of $500 billion — and now, under Obama some $1.5 trillion deficits for 3 years running, with $1.5 trillion annually projected over the next decade. We went from $10 trillion in national debt at the end of Bush to some $15 trillion today. Or, fully 1/3 of the national debt is Obama’s fault. Oh my, the horribly high gas prices under Bush, now nearly 3 times as high under Obama. Oh my, one could go on and on as to what an unmitigated disaster Obama has been.
And all you with crystal balls to be able to determine the “horrifying” Palin presidency — my my, what brilliant future seers you all are.
I find this post your worst, and utterly astounding. Stick to defending gay folks, you’ll do better. And let me remind everyone, that we gays don’t need the not too gay friendly Democrats (evolving, says Obama, and fully 1/2 of Democrats are very anti-gay, they being African-Americans and Latinos, Unions and Catholic Clergy,) only — but we need every Republican too. And this sort of post does not quite endear anyone to the gay cause. Indeed, there’s nothing gay related here whatsoever. And to rely on a Hollywood docudrama, with things just made up and distorted, as your source of information is simply disheartening.
I don’t know how “horrible” a Palin presidency would have been… but I do know this: the hate crimes act would not have been passed, DADT would be alive and well, DOMA would be defended in the White House, and any whisper of federal recognition of “civil unions” (let alone “marriage”) would be non-existent. We’d also likely have a SCOTUS highly stacked against us.
@ Jim — can you imagine what the reaction would have been if we had a video of an African minister praying over Obama to protect him from weetchcroft (witchcraft) like we do of palin. The right wingers would have had a field day with that one and how a ‘witch doctor’ was running for president. They could have gotten another good racist crack in with that label. But we barely heard a peep about this from the right or the MSM. Palin is a total numbskull and I can’t believe how any journalist *still* cares what she says, does or ‘thinks’ (for lack of a better word) about anything.
Did I actually just read a post defending Sarah “Sociopath” Palin? Surely that was satire.
She may not be an absolute idiot? Sure, if you deny the 100% of evidence to the contrary and none that support that hypothesis. She had to quit as governor because of those mean ol’ lawsuits? Well, no — but what does it say about her that she attracted/caused (according to you) “near 100 lawsuits”? Having the world filing suits against you is a sign that you’re doing a great job? Sure it is. I know my company wouldn’t think of hiring anyone that didn’t have at least a dozen lawsuits filed against them. After all, you only want the best people!
That’s all I read of that post once I saw where it was going. But why would anyone defend Sarah “Hooker Heels” Palin? You’d either have to have an extremely skewed vision of how reality operates or simply be a paid shill. Either way, it makes for great comedy but horrendous judgment.
DVRed it and just watched it. Fascinating; very entertaining.
As far as being dumb and unprepared, I’ll never forget listening to the audio of a phone conversation she had with a Canadian comedian who was pretending to be the French prime minister. She was clearly taken in, up to the time that the comedian announced that she had just been spoofed.
The obvious point here was her inability to figure out what was going on. But you also have to wonder how the comedian was able to talk his way through her campaign organization to reach her. Reagan and GWBush might not have been the brightest bulbs on the Xmas tree, but they were at least able to inspire, work with and perhaps lead solid campaign and transitional organizations. Her willfulness, lack of discipline and vindictiveness would all work against her in this regard.
A great many facts have come to light strongly suggesting that Palin would not be up to the demands of the U.S. presidency.
I’ve gotten the sense that she is good at inspiring real hatefulness. That was also part of Reagan’s “magic”, but with her it’s more naked and on the surface. I don’t want her anywhere near the presidency.
Jim, your post would have been stronger if you have left out the first three paragraphs. You may have a point that TBGL should seek allies in both parties. Your greatest error is that you are defending the literal champion of those that unquestioningly hate us on the right. If you had actually watched the movie, which I question, you’d would have noticed it was most sympathetic to the McCain campaign.
Do you honestly think if you keep sucking up to them they are going to like you?
Jim, it always amazes me how many people collude in their oppression to the point of blaming commodity prices on the executive branch.
Nothing much in this movie was new to me. I recall reading most of those things about her as they happened, especially the part where she totally 100% LIES about commission finding that she abused her power as Governor of Alaska.
The only thing I wasn’t pleased with is that they portrayed John McCain pretty sympathetically. I’m not sympathetic to him at all. After all, were it not for him, we wouldn’t have that nitwit Sarah Palin in our culture. Actually, maybe we should thank him. She sure is entertaining.
