From Right Wing Watch via JoeMyGod:
Greenwell Springs Baptist Church pastor Dennis Terry introduced presidential candidate Rick Santorum and Family Research Council president Tony Perkins tonight with a rousing speech railing against liberals and non-Christians and condemning abortion rights, “sexual perversion,” same-sex marriage and secular government.

Believers have generally accepted the myth of the religion which explains the origin and purpose of life in terms of a god. Worse still, the doctrines, the dogmas, the myths have been ingrained in innocent and naïve minds of the believers’ children to such a degree that questioning religious belief is all but impossible.
The first belief that is ingrained in the unsuspecting child is that the child must have a belief. The reinforcement of the religious values and beliefs is equivalent to the rape of intelligence, which includes the substitution of intelligence with nothing more than the religious belief. Entrenching belief is nothing more than creating a closed mind.
This is, psychologically, murder of the individual’s cognition.
When the cognitive process is so compromised, any intellectual argument purporting to convey facts will be obstructed, if there is no clear emotional correlation to the religious belief held. Interestingly, the cognitive process may still work for specific areas of study, or consequences, if the means or the outcomes do not intrude on the religious beliefs.
These people do not comprehend the US Constitution’s First Amendment because their brains are unable to process the information without the overlay of their religious extremism. It’s time we had a religious test for public office. If you have a religion, you don’t pass the test. One cannot have a religion and represent the idea of upholding the FREEDOM AND RIGHT TO CONSCIENCE for all of your constituents.
I say to you false preacher….If YOU do not like the way God is moving with human rights………YOU leave America and leave it to the righteous who love love and freedom as our Lord Jesus taught it…..You name the name of Jesus and are far from the heart of God! be gone with YOU! Praise God in His Highest form…..LOVE for all! Acceptance towards ALL WHO WILL COME. Repent of your unloving and dogmatic attitude and be saved!
The arroagance of the fundies knows no bounds. They are the ones who ought to leave since they hate our Constitution and the rights it guarantees. THeir hate and bigory are un-American.
The language is different, but the style and likely the substance is the same. I don’t understand German well enough to try to translate, but I know enough to get the idea. See the clip below:

Take away church’s tax exemptions. They are now political activist organizations.
Shame on them!
I wonder if this fundie idiot knows that Santorum is a catholic and as such believes in the trinity, not jeeeeeesus as only god. But I’m forgetting that inconvenient facts are irrelevant.
Let us not try to confuse the issue in order to further our own ideologies or to foster hate in God based purely upon the actions of ignorant people. It is enough to say that this man is delusional and seeks to foist his delusions upon willing victims. It is not necessary to suggest that to believe in God means that one is congnitively disabled in some way. Belief in God is not the issue here; using God to teach and validate hate is. I agree with Sandra, take away the church’s tax exemptions. These exemptions have had their time, and it has past. The fathers of this nation (Christian or not) were not intending to build a “Christina nation”. That is one of the biggest lies that continues to be preached from pulpits. We need to educate, not build walls. To do otherwise makes us no better than the fundies…..albeit, with a different agenda.
This adds a new layer to our complaints against hate group head Perkins, that he would allow himself to be introduced by somebody saying that non-Christians should “get out” of the United States. Are we making sure that the SPLC knows about this?
Ah Michael, don’t you just love when you make an intelligent argument about how enforced doctrine turns thinking people into sheep, and you immediately get an angry response from someone trying to refute you by using that same doctrine, therefore not making any sense and sounding like a mindless sheep?
Man, if anyone ever needs to be told to “chillax,” it’s this dude.
Oh Jesus (pardon the pun), I completely misunderstood Charles’ comment. I’m so sorry Charles! I’m gonna sheepishly keep quiet for a while..
Lord help us all!
So much hatred done in your name. And all the clapping!!
The incredible ignorance of these people is always on display. Buddhists do not worship the Buddha (it’s a non-theistic religion), the Buddha is only seen as an enlightened teacher. Muslims do not worship Mohammed, as Terry stated, he was ‘just’ a prophet and I believe Allah is the Arab word for God. Muslims worship the same God as Jews and Christians. I wonder why these fundos who pretend to worship the Prince of Peace are always so damn angry and hateful, hateful, hateful!
Oh, Bonnie, don’t get your panties in a bunch. Nobody is angry. Unless you want to count the people who have this insatiable need to hate God at every turn, and then name anyone who disagrees with you a “mindless sheep”. It only makes you sound ridiculous. The point, in case you’ve forgotten, is that bigotry is still bigotry, whether its dressed up as a “Christian” or as a clumsy athiest, whining about enforced doctrine, blah, blah, blah. Give yourself a break and live a little!! :)
“Intelligent argument”? LOL!!!
My goodness, the Puritans who came here to found their own little theocracy, the ‘founders’ these people are so proud of, would have banished this guy, or perhaps hung him.
Perhaps they can move to the pending moon state?
Just imagine, if this preacher chap got his way, and a fundamentalist Christian was president and ignored the constitution and got all his pals in power and got hold of the US government and everyone who didn’t believe the same way, that is;
Liberal Christians, Jews, Hindus, Muslims, atheists, agnostics, humanists, deists Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all, either submit to our reading of the Bible, or leave.
And there were millions of immigrants leaving the States and arriving at ports and airports across the world.
How would the US end up, with just fundamentalist Christians passing laws according to their reading of the Bible?
What would happen to the rest of the world?
That would make a great alternate universe story!
Thanks for the inspiration, pastor Terry.
If that happenned, Jessica, then we would be the fundy Iran. :P
Yeah, a Fundy Iran, only with nuclear weapons and technology and oil and steel and a massive, well equipped army, air force and navy, all following one man’s idea of Jesus.
Can’t remember who off the top of my head but someone described the US under Roosevelt as the ‘arsenal of democracy’?
This would be ‘the arsenal of Jesus’.
What a story.
What hell if it did come true.
Scary.
There are no gods, but, if there were, why would you worship a hateful, stupid one? More to the point, why do these people need to pretend a hateful, stupid one exists as an excuse for being hateful and stupid. Can’t they just be hateful and stupid all on their own — which they are, anyway, seeing as how there are no gods?
It’s soooo much easier to just be rational.
I guess since their portrayal of hell doesn’t scare people much anymore, they need to create an actual hell. Their desire to do so truly is disturbing, and reveals some very bad things about their (lack of) character.
Re comment No. 1 – So you didn’t teach your children about Santa or the tooth fairy, or the Easter Bunny, and you certainly never read them the standard fairy tales, correct?
Not inculcating God is also indoctrination.
he sounds angry… and so misguided :(
[...] we showed you footage of a nutty preacher, Dennis Terry, who was introducing Rick Santorum. The holy man’s [...]
JESUS CHRIST! This man is sick, crazy and STUPID! What’s ever sicker, crazier and stupider are the hundreds of idiots cheering him on.
Jerry
Correction: “even” not ever
Jerry
Just pathetic…these extremists should be removed from this planet no matter what country they come from along with their stupid brainless followers.
Jessica — re your post #18: There already *is* a book describing such a society. It was “The Handmaid’s Tale” written by Margaret Atwood.
It described a theocratic society in a dystopian USA. The rulers were all male and because of pollution, some women were rendered infertile, so the rulers enslaved fertile women and called them “handmaids” whom they owned and were legally raped in order for the men to continue their society.
It was made into a movie starring Faye Dunaway, Robert Duvall and Natasha Richardson.
