This went on from about the Renaissance well into the 19th century! The last known castro for this purpose died in the early 1900s (I just read it). I doubt if they would have a problem mutilating children to ‘cure’ homosexuality and, even worse, as a ‘punishment’ for reporting pedophile clergymen.
