Blue Texan refers to this as a fatwa, and it kinda is when you think about it:
Televangelist Pat Robertson says that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning should be punished with an inury because the team traded devout Christian Tim Tebow.
“I think the Denver Broncos treated [Tebow] shabbily,” Robertson explained on Thursday. “He won seven games. He brought them into the playoffs, for heaven sakes. I mean, they were a nothing team. He rallied them together with spectacular last-minute passes and, you know, when they beat Buffalo — I mean, Pittsburgh — it was a tremendous victory.”
He continued: “And you just ask yourself, OK, Peyton Manning was a tremendous MVP quarterback, but he’s been injured. If that injury comes back, Denver will find itself without a quarterback — and in my opinion, it would serve them right.”
Yeah. And, good lord, there’s video:
Right Wing Watch also points out that today is Pat Robertson’s burfday [!!!], and they have a nice little tribute post for him right here, with all of his greatest hits over the past year. Entertainment!

Being petty enough to wish an injury on someone for something he perceives as a personal slight, but in reality was just business.
The paragons of morality, ladies and gentlemen.
And over something as inconsequential as a football game, as well. Sad.
As football I mean. I know it’s easy to get into it but seriously?
Instead of reporting on the fact that gay people are being murdered all over the world for the way that they were born, he wastes time with this foolishness. Apart from that, Happy Birthday Pat! May you continue to provide strength for our just cause for many, many more years!
At first I thought Pat Robertson’s “man crush” on Tim Tebow was cute, but now it’s getting like a wierdly religious creepy old man, obsession…
Wow. What is it with fundies and their wishing harm on others?!
Ah, the love of Christ spoken from his prophet Pat. Yikes!
And if Tebow had stayed with Denver and got injured…they would find themselves without a quarterback. Is Pat suggesting that fundies like Tebow are protected by God from injury? If not, his comments make no sense. All players, at some point, get injured in the NFL. It is part of the job.
I guess prayer doesn’t work because I refuse to believe Tim Tebow didn’t pray to remain with the Broncos. Of course, religion has an answer: god’s got big plans for Tim Tebow!
…yes, and when Tebow is injured, this will also be God’s plan, and he’ll learn some deep spiritual lesson (snort) which won’t change his outlook in the slightest, because the madness runs deep…
Oh please. Everyone knows God is a Patriots fan.
Tebow is yummy. Too bad he’s a wackaloon. If I was on that field I would intentionally trip over him and fall on him while he was Tebowing.
Tebow sets off my gaydar.
Stop lying about Christians Evan Hurst! You will not mock God or God’s people.
Fatwa is not a Christian practice. It is from the pagan muslim religion and comes from their demon god, allah. Do not mislead your homosexual readers, Evan Hurst.
Rev. Robertson is a Spirit-filled Christian who is blessed by the Spirit with great wisdom and with the word of knowledge. Do not mock him, Evan Hurst.
I tell you that the response of Quinlan is on its way. You know this is true. When it comes, your time for repentance and humility will be over and you will face the consequences of your foul deceitful lawsuit. “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.” Rev. 12:12.
Before it is too late, I instruct you in the name of the Spirit to withdraw your claim, clothe yourself in humility and seek forgiveness. Go tell your boyfriend Wayne Besen to do this now or be shamed before the world.
Charles- So Pat is such a good Christian he wishes injury to another human being. And you have the nerve to insult Islam?? WOW
Charles, Oooh, look at me, I’m god, I’m going to smite you if you keep making these spittle flecked posts, Ooo, I’m so big and powerful, I’m going to send lightning bolts because I’m Faaabulous, oh dear!
Charles, now look at me, I’m Pat Robertson, I’m going to put a Fatwa on Tim Tebow if he doesn’t come visit me naked, Ooooh, Tim come on, you know you want me, Ooooh.
See what happened there, Charles? You claimed your god and your god’s peoples would not be mocked and yet I mocked them – haha haha hahaha.
You’re wrong again Charles, just like you were when you claimed your imaginary god would prevent Wayne from bringing a lawsuit against the serial liar.
I thought you said the claim would never happen.
God would not allow it you said.
if i did not know better, and its not like we need any, but you almost come across as some plant put here to make fundy trash look like…well…fundy fanatic, trailer trash.
Get a better church, and a life..and a grasp of reality…
Hey, how’s my favorite Magrathean doing?
We are well aware that Robertson is what you say he is. He made that much clear by slandering and wishing real harm on everyone he hates, as you are doing here. He also made as much clear by taking advantage of tragedies that befallen others. If I were you, I would choose better representatives of my faith.
I see you are stepping up your fearmongering. It doesn’t scare anyone naturally, but it makes us aware of how increasingly desperate your side (especially your master Quinlan) is becoming. That should count for something, right?
Pat Robertson did not say he wishes Manning would get hurt. He said since he was hurt before it could happen again and Denver would be without a q back and it would serve them right since he thinks they have treated Tebow shabbily.
To Jon S- You stated that this is what Pat said
“Pat Robertson did not say he wishes Manning would get hurt. He said since he was hurt before it could happen again and Denver would be without a q back and it would serve them right since he thinks they have treated Tebow shabbily.”
That is not what he said, this is what he said. Read the article without the Rose colored glasses!
Televangelist Pat Robertson says that Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning should be PUNISHED with an inury because the team traded devout Christian Tim Tebow.
Imagine that, a devout, non-judgemental, loving Christian man wishing a personal injury on another human being for punishment, what kind of a message does that send to other Christians, and what about the children??
Next time I talk to god I’ll ask him if football is a priority in his life and if it should be a priority in Pat Robertsons.
Oh yeah I forgot this is the same person whom blamed the earthquake in Haiti for makeing a pact with the devil 300 years before he was born. (Smack forehead)
