What a surprising headline.
Here is David Barton, the amazingly revisionist “historian,” explaining that every time there was a Christian revival in the Bible, it was always heralded by the people suddenly choosing to hate gay people:
Got that, fundamentalist wingnuts? If you want the spirit to truly descend on your church, you all simply need to hate us MORE. Wasn’t sure that was possible in the world of David Barton, but there it is.

He obviously doesn’t spend any money on updating his ratty looking collection of books.
One Evangelical college professor has been on a mission to expose David Barton for the fraud that he is. His name is Warren Throckmorton. go to his website and use key words David Barton. Warren has been exposing Barton for a pretty ong time now. http://www.WThrockmorton.com
I think the “ratty looking collection of old books”
are meant to trick the fundies into thinking he’s read really important historical texts. so he knows what he’s talking about.
hahaha They’re probably library books that he never bothered to return.

Shows how stupid his audience is, or how stupid he thinks they are.
I would be more impressed with NEW books on the table, showing that his research is up-to-date and even peer-reviewed.
This just illustrates that he is relying on out-moded and even false ideas.
Or that he has lots of lovely old books that he can pass off as history books as long as no-one gets close enough to see that they are actually a large collection romantic poetry!
;)
fair point Peter, but, fundamentalists are, almost by definition, terrified of new dats, science and anything that questions their bline faith…sad to say
