I am in Utah to speak at two events with the Southern Poverty Law Center tonight and tomorrow about the harm caused by “ex-gay” therapy. If you want to join us at these events in Provo and Salt Lake City CLICK HERE.
Meanwhile, this is the news headline that greeted me at my hotel this morning.
Thoughts on Mitt Romney securing the nomination? Will his LDS religion hurt his chances, help him, or be a non-factor? I’d love to hear what our readers think.

Someone needs to ask him directly about those concentration camps his church runs.
Bring on the scrutiny. It’s much needed.
Shine a light in the darkness.
The wingnuts don’t like Mormons and don’t consider them to be ‘real Christians’, besides the fact that they don’t think Romney is conservative enough; but true to their authoritarian personalities and loyalty to the party, they will hold their noses and vote for him anyway. They want a white guy back in the Oval Office more than anything else!
I think it will help in the respects of MONEY…Obama is really going to have to raise a lot of f*****g money….Romney is loaded!!!!! As for him being LDS, I believe it will hurt him in some respects but not in others. Not sure how…all we can do is wait and see.
It’s amazing to me that Romney being the nominee is practically beside the point to the Tribune, with the point being that there will be the clearly-implied unfortunate side-effect that people will now learn more about the Mormon cult.
Well, I guess you can’t say they are completely un-self-aware. At least they understand that sane, decent people reject them once they know them.
That headline on that newspaper is going to send some evangelicals around the bend.
Ask Mittens how many Grandmothers he has.
Best wishes. Utah may be a beautiful state but you couldn’t pay me to visit it.
I understand Willard is not just a practicing mormon but a Mormon Bishop. I’m not keen on having a bishop of ANY religion being the President of the United States. Especially of a misogynist, (& until recently officially) racist, and clearly a homophobic sect. This man doesn’t have a track record of truthfulness, but he does have a track record of seeing which way the wind is blowing and saying whatever he needs to say to convince people to vote for him.
