The Religious Right, led by the Alliance Defense Fund, would like you all to remember that, although Friday may be the Day of Silence, Thursday is the “Day of Dialogue,” wherein kids are free to verbally abuse gay kids all they want, as long as it’s in the name of “morals” or “sincerely held religious beliefs.” Here, watch their video!

She is so cute, cuddly, and lovable. Unfortunately, when you “dialog” with someone of the fundie ilk, you do not get understanding of your position simply because you are dead wrong to begin with. With God on your side, how can anyone else have a point? Actually, she gave the whole plan away when she semi-sort-of belittled the idea of being gay as an unchangeable nature (sort of like being straight?). So the idea is to point out how WRONG that is and set those poor suffering (at the hands of you coo-coos)gay people on the right path – the one you are on! They make their ideas sound so sweet and loving. Ever heard of “mind your own business”? This thing of theirs is just a plan to give their gay associates a verbal beat-down in the name of “love”.
Ah yes the “day of dialogue” I’ll sharpen my verbal daggers in advance in case I need to metaphorically tear someone’s face off if they’re silly enough to approach me for this.

@Dconstable, I’m with you. Actually, though, kids who participate in the Day of Silence ARE minding their own business. The ones not minding their own business are the ones who want to use the Day of Dialogue to push their religious hatred of GLBT people. The latter is the bunch who really DO mean to MYOB.

If I were a student accosted by one of those idiots I’d walk away or tell them to mind their own effing business. “Dialogue” assumes both parties are willing participants. What they want is to give unwilling participants lectures about their backwards, bigoted notions.

In one 2-minute video, she violates virtually every edict in 1 Timothy 2. Hypocritical nonsense. I wonder if they would be so accepting of the “dialogue” if they were approached by Muslims telling them to convert or spend eternity in hell? Dialogue = (in practice) monologue.
I hope that pro-equality students of faith will take this oppotunity to approach unrepentant homophobes and lovingly explain to them why they need to repent. It’s important to remind them that homophobia is a sin and their souls are in danger as long as they brazenly promote/celebrate/flaunt their sin.
