The great thing about this hilarious list from Jesus’ General, of Republican scientific beliefs, is that it’s probably not all that far off from what the Peter LaBarberas, the Tony Perkinses and the Linda Harveys of the world really believe. They just couch it in language that at least sounds intelligent to them. Here are a few of my favorites:
Preborn girls are created when a sperm person gives up one of his ribs.
A man’s uterus is the only organ that can function outside of his body.
Gravity is a lie. We all have angels pushing down on our heads. Sometimes Catholic priests and protestant youth ministers have to help the angels push down on heads.
OUCH. Click over to read the rest.

I know it’s supposed to be funny, but honestly, this kind of mean-spirited jab only serves to shut down discourse, demonize our side, and actually prevents progress towards the ultimate goal of true equality.
It might feel good to get a job in at people you don’t like/don’t agree with, but it’s counter-productive to what we’re really trying to do.
We win when we are civil, calm, assertive, in possession of data, in solidarity with one another and respectful/tolerant of others.
Disagree.
“Civility” is a strawman meant to deflect attention from real arguments.

Tim,
Those radically opposed to LGBT equality are not educable and open to data of ANY kind that does not corroborate their faith derived and unassailable presuppositions. True, the yuck factor plays a role, but its mostly religious based (aka “faith based” and requiring no empirical evidence) motivation that drives these people. Pointing out the ridiculousness of their unexamined beliefs should be an unceasing activity for those of us who want to secure our freedom from the Taliban-like stratagems of christianists (or any similar theopolitcal authoritarian group).
Evan, you forgot the scare quotes. We must use scare quotes whenever we “talk” about these “people”.
Our side needs to do more jabbing, and go on the offense aggressively. They have been doing it to us for millennia. Time to turn the tables. Karma’s a b***h, isn’t it, right wing wackaloons.
Tim, I get your point, but “discourse? Discourse? With loony-tunes who hate all that you are? The only discourse you can have with these people is to completely submit yourself to their requirements to be like them so God can love you and care about you the way he does them. They don’t even know how to mind their own business. They use their generated hatred of us to make money big-time. Discourse? Not in this lifetime.
Gianni is absolutely correct. Also, let’s not forget that we’re routinely being compared to terrorists, and that we want to destroy this country, and so on. How in the blazes can we have any sort of ‘discourse’ with these people? They aren’t interested in facts, aren’t interested in evidence, aren’t even interested in hearing us out – instead they scream all the louder, making even more outrageous claims – all without evidence, natch. No, the time for ‘discourse’ has long since passed.
Tim, I agree with Evan. A certain level of decorum is required at times such as say, a death (I heard Mr. Colson is about to die, and uncivil comments then would be tacky AND self destructive), but when wingnuts espouse stupid, anti scientific clap trap as science, it’s OPEN SEASON! ;)
