This is supposed to be shocking, as Dan talks about the Pope’s silliness in proclaiming that marriage equality will destroy the human race. I actually post this video for two reasons. Wait, three:
1. It’s funny.
2. Porno Pete is over at his blog posting things like this, which are supposed to just be appalling, but do you hear how much the audience is laughing? Do you hear how the next generation of college students simply doesn’t include people like Porno Pete, at least not in any sort of significant numbers? Do you hear that sound? It’s the sound of of the culture war that we’ve won.
3. This is also the talk, at Elmhurst College, that Porno Pete got kicked out of, because he doesn’t know how to behave in public. Then he lied about why he got kicked out. Then he got busted, on Twitter, by Dan himself. Hilarity ensued.
1. This is Savage doing the one and only thing he does reasonably well, which is being a smutty clown. There is nothing wrong with that profession. There is something wrong, however, with confusing a smutty clown with an orator or, fictional god forbid, some sort of statesman or even spokesperson.
2. Just because the extremist right said there was a “culture war” doesn’t meant there ever was. It takes two sides to fight a war. Simply defending yourself against a crazy attacker does not a war make. There’s also no “War on Christmas”.
3. Pete Whatshisname is another well-known idiot who also often succeeds in keeping his name alive in the media.
Seriously, what does Kim Kardashian think about all this? Or maybe a Real Housewife can weigh in? Or maybe there’s even a grown-up somewhere with something to say?
Wow, justme, I tend to agree with the question another commenter asked you. Did Dan Savage reject you in a bar years ago? Refuse to sign an autograph?
Dan Savage is a good entertainer. He’s spoken well on some issues and has helped bring important issues to light.
But let’s not confuse him for the reincarnation of Harvey Milk.

That was the clip Pete posted? Was what Dan Savage said supposed to be scandalous?
The pope is a homophobe. The pope said when homosexual activity is condoned or legislation is introduced to protect it….”neither the Church nor society at large should be surprised when…violent reactions increase.” He wrote this when he was head of the Vatican office formerly known as the Inquisition. John Paul II ordered his document published.
This is one of the most violent assertions ever made by a leader of the RC Church. This is pathetic. This is bullying. This is verbal assault. This is abuse. And somehow we are supposed to take this man seriously because this is his religious belief? He believes and he preaches hatred and lies. He deserves nothing but ridicule and scorn for this kind of behavior.
Not to mention the Christians’ penchant for child molestation and other forms of abuse. And those depraved cretins have the audacity to say anything about us.
