Evolution complete! I am watching the ABC interview as we speak, and it’s official. Barack Obama has become the first US President in history to endorse full, federal marriage equality for gays and lesbians. AlterNet has more. I’ll update with video when it’s available.

wow. I don’t know if it was a smart political move…but, it was a brave move (as a republican co worker just said…he is not bigoted by the way…and does not agree with his parties bigoted platform) and I am happy to hear a President of the United States of America say it. :)

Gene, it may be the smart move. He won last time with an energized, young base. This, and probably some other moves, could energize it. I wouldn’t call the sluggish economy a winner.
Wow. Good on Obama. It is this kind of leadership we should have had off him from the beginning – trying to end pipartisanship by reaching out to the Right has failed miserably, mainy due to the fact that most right-wingers are racist (even if they do not realise it themselves) a-holes who hate the president’s guts and will oppose him on ANYTHING he says!
f**k the Right. Lets just push forward with sensible, fair and progressive policies that do not curtail the rights of women, racial minorities, religious minoroties, sexual minorities etc.
