Michael Brown, Jew for Jesus, and one of the most irrationally homophobic men in the United States, writing to Kathy Baldock, Evangelical Christian and advocate for LGBT people:
“Kathy, to use your words, people are ‘absolutely sick of the hatred, bigotry and discrimination’ being shown against Christians in our society today. People have had it with gay activists shoving their agenda down their throats, trying to indoctrinate their children, taking away their religious right and freedoms, and twising [sic] the Word of God. You are totally on the wrong side of this issue, and if not in this world, then before the throne of God, you will come to that bitter realization. I will certainly continue to pray for you.
As to whether you know God or love God, that’s for Him to decide, not me, and it is not for me to judge your motives. But as to you whether you are rightly reading and interpreting the Word with regard to homosexual practice, I have no doubt that you are quite wrong.”
And yet, Michael, please show me the kid who put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger because he had been so bullied, beaten up, preached against, humiliated, and/or driven into self-loathing, for being a Christian. Or a Jew for Jesus. Whatever the case may be. Show me. I’m waiting. Everyone is.
Oh, you have nothing? I guess we’ll just continue to shoulder the bodycount, then, at the hands of people like you, while you continue to inhumanely bitch about your plight. Just the way it’s always been.
[h/t to Thers for the line of questioning]

Going to Pride Charlotte this year will be a more elevated in emotions experience. Last year Brown lead 200 people into Gay Pride with tee shirts printed “God Has a Better Way”. Of course all the literature they handed out gave the message to change so that God might love you if you happened to be g,l, b or t.
He has an intended bent of discrimination against the transgender community. I will be going back to Charlotte again in August. I care VERY much to stand and counter the hate he and the street preachers bring. BRown has hoped to make his advance on pride in Charlotte a model to be exported to other cities with Pride events so that they might join him in “resisting the radical gay agenda”.
Brown’s screed (and the very fact that he felt he had to write to the venerable Ms Baldock) just smacks of desperation, nay positively reeks of it.
He, and his fellow bigots, started to realise a long time ago that they were going to lose their so-called ‘culture wars’, and people would one day view them in the same light as Neo-Nazis and the KKK.
Spitting vitriol is all they have left.
To: Mr. Brown,
If you truly felt that it was not your place to judge, then you would not be writing letters like the one above, indeed you would not be involved in any anti-gay efforts at all.
On the contrary, you do nothing BUT judge – your whole life is dedicated to it.
If you truly followed the Christ, then you would shut up and keep your thoughts to yourself.
Brown is a clown.
I have had several conversations with Michael & he has assured me that I cannot be gay & xtian. It has to be one or the other. He worships his idol, the Bible, & cannot begin to understand how blind & hateful he is. He claims to ‘love’ gays but to hate ‘gay activists’. I have pointed out to him that any gay who is out of the closet is an activist by their sheer existence. He claims he wants to be friends with Dan Savage yet he despises everything gay. This man is SO LOST in his confused thinking that it is impossible to communicate with him. And yes, he has a special hatred for transgendered folk. He reveals it all the time, just about every time he speaks. By the way, Truth In Action Ministries (the renamed Coral Ridge Ministries) is putting out a 60 page version of his Queer Thing Happened To America tome called Stealth Agenda. That should be fun.
Peter, if you wish to communicate directly with Michael you can reach him as AskDrBrown.com & then go to Line of Fire (his radio show) & connect to Contact Us. He or his staff do read emails although they usually do not answer them.
Devin,
Thanks for the pointers. I’ve actually been to both those sites and proffered my thoughts to Brown the Clown.
It felt so grimey that I spent the next few hours afterwards in the shower, using scalding hot water and a coarse wire brush! Eurgh!!!
Evan, you hit the nail on the head. Churches and other religious groups have the constitutional right to preach what they want about homosexuality and LGBT people. But they do not have the moral right. What they preach has consequences. Those of us who are adults can make the choice to stop going to churches that preach lies about us. But my concern is primarily for the LGBT children and youths who don’t have the choice to attend or not attend, or the knowledge to reject such preaching as garbage.
And my concern is for the parents and family members of such children and youths who are given the messages that their children are by their nature disordered and that they cannot enter heaven without changing into someone they cannot be or without never being able to enter into loving relationships.
I was raised a Roman Catholic, and it disturbs me greatly to see what so many bishops have done to attack LGBT people through videos sent to homes, letters to be read in churches, petitions to be signed in the back of churches, letters and inserts to be published in Sunday bulletins, and letters and articles in diocesan newspapers, and appearances on television. I was fortunate to have grown up in a period when though I knew nothing of being gay, I was not bombarded by such lies and hate proclaimed as love. I can only begin to imagine the inner turmoil I would have felt had I had to deal with what young LGBT people have to deal with in RC churches today.
And what makes this campaign by bishops (the kind of campaign they wage on no other issue) particularly disgusting, is the knowledge that so many of them are closeted homosexuals themselves, playing out in public their own sexual issues, as though by being so strident no one would see through their masks.
I am quite happy to be gay and to have no truck with the Abrahamist pyramid scheme.
When you want to take the focus off the s**t you do, accuse the other party of doing it to you. It’s a tried and true method of thoroughly confusing and re-energizing your loyal dupes. The signs that say, “God Has A Better Way” are true except He has a better way for them. Wise up and get some brains and let your fellow man be himself and treat him with all the respect and justice and equality you yourselves deserve. Wow, tough to imagine when you’re doing “God’s” will.
The better way is to leave off of serving imaginary deities and to take responsibility for your own life. Ex-gays and their fellow travelers just can’t keep from picking at their scabs. It feels so good to them even if it makes a bloody mess for the rest of us.
I don’t know what makes Michael Brown and his ilk think they OWN God and Christ.
“You can’t be gay and Christian.”
What?
I think our world, rich in immense diversity, can be appreciated and God and Christ can be loved without the likes of the crass, arrogant salesmen Brown making all their noise.
God was never in the Bible or Q’ran or any of those dusty old books.
Not. Ever.
God is where love is, and where empathy must live.
Which is why the universal doctrine of treating another as you’d be treated has a foundation in equal justice, rights and protections.
Brown usurps sympathy for himself and his own tribe. He couldn’t care less about the pain inflicted on gay people or doing it himself.
If his believed application were true, pain wouldn’t result.
He’s a selfish coward. Seriously cowardly, anyone who complains that gay people are the ‘real’ bullies, intolerant and haters is indifferent and hypocritical on top of everything else.
