Dear One Million Moms, this is your cue to SCREAM!
First it was that homosexual lesbian pervert Ellen DeGeneres, AKA the most beloved celebrity in America, being hired as JC Penney’s spokesperson.
Now JC Penney has really done it, by running a Fathers’ Day ad featuring a family with two dads. Have you ever heard of such a thing?! I haven’t.
GREAT ad.
Joe provides the text:
The text on the upper left reads: “First Pals: What makes Dad so cool? He’s the swim coach, tent maker, best friend, bike fixer and hug giver–all rolled into one. Or two.” The text at the bottom right reads: “Real-life dads, Todd Koch and Cooper Smith with their children Claire and Mason.”
Maybe we need to all go shopping at Penney’s.

The nutjobs are losing the battle. Day, by day, by day, by day, by…
Awesome job, Penny’s. And thank you, Ellen.
Doing what’s right doesn’t have to be popular. It just has to be right.
Those of us who fully support the LGBT community give a big Thank You to JC Penny.
The 27 Moms must be seething. Actually, who’s to say (since they are entirely a web phenomenon) that it’s not just three fat blokes from North Carolina?
Awesome! Way to go JCP and congrats to the 2 dads!
It’s a fabulous looking ad and I am actually looking forward to the One Million Mom hissy fit!
Here’s my post on the ad at the HuffPo in case you want to check it out!

LOVE!!!
D’AWWW!
That’s gotta be the cutest Father’s Day ad I’ve ever seen! How could ANYONE find it offensive?!
Bring on the “Mom” jeans! I’m goin’ shopping.
JC Penny has some awsome sheets! A really great pair of shees is AmericanLiving only available at JC Penny.
A Lot of sheet show a high thread count but when you take them out of the wash they are all wrinkled. The AmericanLiving sheets from JC Penny are practically wrinkle free and they don’t pile.

I have for a long time loved you j.c. pennys. and i continue to do so. thank you so very much.
Wonderful sweet ad! It made me tear up!
I will now be shopping at JC Penney’s …..I haven’t shopped there in years but I will now. Thanks you Penney’s…why do these sad people feel so threatened???
Thank you JC Penney and thank you TWO for printing this beautiful add and the comments for all the world to see. And thank you Ellen for being a great roll model for us all.
Jerry
tender, tender, tender. This is a lovely advertisement, and I wholeheartedly support JC Penny now. It used to be just another store, now it’s caught my eye.
@Straightgrandmother – that is some seriously useful advice. Wrinkle-free for all!
A friend recently turned us on to JC Penney for Juniors clothes. Their new-ish “everyday low price” structure really IS low, and their clothes are much more “in” than i remember as a kid. In addition, we bought my son’s 3-piece suit there, along with some nice-but-cheap dress shirts, with a HUGE variety of very cool colors to pick from. And they have a GREAT sale on guys’ jeans every fall!
I had not been to JC Pennys in years (save a brief walk in at Christmas time in the mall a few years back). I started going after the roomful of moms started to whine and complain, and to my shock, I like it, and have been buying a lot of stuff there.
Talk is cheap! Time to God Shopping! (thanks for the sheet advice Straightgrandmother. We have been needing new sheets!)
PS all, to those who remember, the hubby nearly died. It has been a lousy year, but, he is home now, working part time, and happy to he alive. I hope we have another 22 great years (or more) together. Thanks to everyone who send best thoughts, or prayers, and the kind words.
I got my happy ending. And my marriage. And no bigot can take that away from me. Thanks again everyone!
lol…go shopping..not GOD shopping (me no type good)
Last Sunday when I was in Philadelphia, I saw a billboard with the ad for that clothing company (I forget which one now) that had to the 2 young guys inside of one 1 T-shirt that the haters were bitching about a few weeks ago. I think I read it on this site.
Oh well, I’m off to Penney’s to get some summer clothes. ;)
Gary – That ad is of Rory O’Malley (of “Book of Mormon” fame) and his reallife boyfriend. The clothing is from Gap.
Gary- That is indeed Cooper Smith, editor-in-chief & publisher of Gay List Daily.
I can’t say I love the new ‘Everyday’ campaign, but I love that JCP has been proud to do the right thing! Here’s hoping more corporations will follow suit.
Im going to guess that part of 27 moms objection to the ad, Is that both those dads are shown to be far more doting then any of their husbands are.
Awesome JCP! This straight girl has not been to your store in years, but guess what, I am making a special trip now! EQUALITY FOR ALL
Here’s an email link for advertising at JCP if you should want to thank them as I did.

Incredible step for human rights. Go JC Penny!
I will be shopping at Pennys more and more… Cooper is my cousin and he and Todd having a long lasting loving commited relationship – something a lot of straight couples lack-
Penny’s clearly is more interested in family values! Cause this family is built on mutual love and respect – the homophobes in divorcee court could take a lesson from Todd and Cooper!
If you would like stores like JCPenny’s to continue on this great path then you must shop there too. JCPenny’s sales were down 20% since their new business model and advertising campaign. However, this is a very normal when you change your pricing structure and promotions for any product or service. But we don’t want to give any fuel to the One Million Moms. Support their mission to appeal to all potential buyers by making a conscience effort to shop there more often.
Awesome job JC Penny! I’ll now shop at JC Penny as a priority!
Welcome to 2012 folds!
@Gene: You just made me cry. I’m so blessed to know that things are going better for y’all.
For any other regular commenters who wonder whether we’re paying attention, we so f*****g are.
I value each and every one of you, and want you all to know that if you’re going through something, you have a safe place here
An that’s what makes “TownCraft” so bold. J C Penneys, wherever, whomever you are, you are America’s TownCraft. We bless and admire your Truth.
Gene, it’s good to hear that you and your husband are having a happy new beginning. Best wishes for a minimum of 22 more great years.
I have worked for JCP for 28 yrs and this is the most exciting year to date. Love the direction they’re going. Fair pricing and equality for all :-)
