There’s nothing wrong with voting against one’s self-interest — if that means charitably and knowingly voting for the greater good, especially for those who need aid to become self-sustaining.

Those who vote for antigay, misogynist, ethnically biased, borrow-and-spend candidates are voting against the interests of all. They are voting for a fantasy, for a dream in which they may not rise very high but at least others will be made to wallow lower than them. Some of them take for granted that these are the end times — and they vote to accelerate rather than forestall crisis.

I agree with Barney Frank and Ed Rendel: this was a stupid battle to pick. After the recall efforts of last year had a lukewarm response they should have declared victory and worked on unseating Walker in the regular election. Now the Tea Party has a tailwind.

Many Wisconsin voters thought the entire recall was inappropriate–they were annoyed to be bothered with it. This is an angle we should be playing up when the trash starts another drive to ban marriage for everyone, like Washington.

How sad that people will vote straight ticket, and often against their own self-interest. I am to the point of thinking seriously of emigrating away from this Christianist hell hole. If Obama loses, life for GLBT will become much more miserable and difficult.

@StraightGrandmother (and everyone else disappointed voters in the Walker Recall Win) – Please note this is not excactly a celebratory victory. If anything, it is a Pyrrhic victory at best. The Koch brothers and their billionaire allies had to spend tens of millions of dollars on this election in order to squeak by with a %55 win in a state with only 10 electoral votes. How much would they have to spend in a larger state or on a national election just to get their %50.1 this year? They may actually go broke doing so in which case they will lose all their influence on future elections. What kind of business sense is that?

John even IF we don’t take the governorship, the Senate is Tied with 4 Senators up for recall, we can take back the Senate. I hope that NASTY Scott Fitzgerald looses.
