Richard Socarides, former LGBT advisor to President Clinton and former president of Equality Matters, and Wayne Besen, founding executive director of Truth Wins Out, join “Viewpoint” host Eliot Spitzer to consider how the U.S. Supreme Court might rule should a same-sex marriage case reach the docket next term.
“This is the court deciding what is the direction – what is freedom going to look like for our country as we go forward,” observes Socarides. He speculates that evolving public opinion may influence their decision: “Nobody knows what they’re going to do because they don’t know what they’re going to do.”

Good job, Wayne, as always.
Great appearence, Wayne.
On a related note, you know how wingnutia are so fond of the ‘slippery slope’ argument, where they claim same-sex marriage will lead to polygamy?
Well, on a debate on the Australian breakfast show ‘Sunrise’ the head of the Australian Christian Lobby used this very argument (not before comparing the network’s slightly pro-equality stance to Nazi-ism – jeez, they’re like a broken record aren’t they?).

A Dr. Kerryn Phelps made the following, very pertinent point:
“Mr Wallace raised fears of polygamous unions following on from marriage equality and concern for children involved. Dr Phelps replied: “I’m thrilled that you’ve raised this issue of polygamy, because in every nation where polygamy is legal being gay is illegal. In every country where same-sex marriage is legal, polygamy is illegal.””
So,
Polygamy legal = Homosexuality illegal
Same sex marriage legal = Polygamy illegal.
Put that in your pipe and smoke it, fundies!
