The Huffington Post has posted a little mash-up, which pits the words of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount against the hateful words of Religious Right leaders, who somehow claim with a straight face to speak on Jesus’s behalf. It’s illuminating.

These are false prophets. The Bible warns that we will know false prophets by their fruits. The fruits of homophobia are lies, greed, pride, violence, unequal laws, families ripped apart, children harmed, prejudice, bigotry, homophobia, Christ’s commandments ignored, suicide and murder. These are not fruits of the Spirit, they are fruits of Satan. Thus, their evil “fruits” reveal who they really are for all the world to see….if people open their eyes and look.
Without GLTB to rally against and hate upon, these people would have no reason to exist. They need a focus for their hate and anger and fundraising. It’s as simple as that.
Fear mongering, a cry for help. Have compassion and understanding be your call to peace, instead of hating back, a call to war. These fearbots are not redeemable in their present state. They know not the meaning of Salvation. Stay in your truth, understand they are insane with fear, love your neighbor anyway, and all is well.
Pretty woo woo iDavid. Compassion is pretty hard to generate towards people who deliberately & persistently lie and scheme for their own personal gain. I think it could be fairly called tribalism. And it is destructive (in this case) to women and LGBT people, who make up more than half of the world’s population. I simply cannot muster up any compassion and understanding for these sociopaths.
They would exterminate us if they had the power.

Paul…….I know how you feel. It’s hard to see just how much these people are hurting at the hands of an evil twisted religious belief, buf they are. And it’s twice as hard to have compassion when being attacked. But when you look at their upbringing being so savagely warped, it’s no wonder they are wanting to swing fists at every corner. They are so backed up with fear they just sit and spin. They have been fed the devil’s own dinner and project his essence. But when they stimulate our fear, then we get to feel that same essence in ourselves. Its a tall order to translate that to compassion by understanding their past, but it works and keeps you safe in your own emotions. And thats the point here, keeping oneself safe and stable. Then one can be much more effective at stopping the battle, rather than being in the trenches dying useless emotional deaths on a daily basis. We all have differing degrees if investment in this war, but many are losing valuable time and energy wasting it in rage. To turn that around would be helpful to anyone who wants to rise above the drama and effect it from a clear mind.
