The Huffington Post is reporting that Ann Romney, the wife of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, recently hinted that her husband may select a female running mate this fall:
Ann Romney says in an interview, “We’ve been looking at that and I love that option as well.”
While my inner pragmatist believes that the most likely female VP candidate on Romney’s list is South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, I’m secretly hoping that he selects Rep. Michele Bachmann for the number two spot. I know, I know, it probably won’t happen — politically, the Minnesota congresswoman is damaged goods — but a Romney-Bachmann ticket sure would make for an interesting campaign. . .

Another version of Palin?
BTW-Happy Birthday Wayne! (2 days before mine) ;)
They didn’t learn their lesson from McCain’s idiocy?
Ugh. That THAT woman should ever be THAT close to the White House, even in fevered teabagger dreams truly frightens me.
I think the last post on this blog suggested a perfect choice; a defender of the poor, put-upon suburbanite and a member of the “new media.” Romney/Jackson 2012.
Bachman….nah, whatever else Romney may be, he is not a moron. “true morons are rare”. Haley, maybe..
But, I have talked to a few pals inside the beltway who really think that Condi Rice might be in the running. Whatever one thinks of her politics, she is smart, very educated, like personally by people on both sides of the political spectrum, and as a minority woman would put to rest (some of) the fears about oh so white and out of touch Romney.
John, this nonsense about a female VIP has happened over and over again. Its just a ruse to attract news interest. McCain was utterly desperate and clutched at SAP in a desperate bid to expand his appeal but Willard has no smart enough pool of females to draw on. I mean Michelle Bachmann? Nikki Haley is not particularly popular in SC as I understand it? Jan Brewer? Ann Coulter? Lisa Murkowski? Slim pickin’s. Willard will go for the “heavyweight” Chris Christie or some other well-fed white male, or fellow-traveler.
If condi is indeed gay, as has been usggested, she ain’t that hand that will fill out the mittens.
He should pick Victoria Jackson. What a ticket!
Condi Rice won’t garner him many black votes. Condi is not your average black woman. I suspect she has more white supporters.
A few news sites are also wondering if Republican Junior Senator Kelly Ayotte might also be in the running for Romney’s VP pick.
He should pick Bachmann. They could do a choreographed routine in which they stick their feet in their mouths in unison.
