I just wanted to express my personal support for Chick-Fil-A. If interested I hear that Mike Huckabee is having a Support Chick-Fil-A Day next Wednesday August 1st.

Alan Chambers supports one of the most homophobic companies in America? “I’m surprised!” said no one, ever.
WinShape did donate money to Exodus. Gotta suck up to your donors I guess.

They said some crappy things, everyone called them out on it, now let’s boycott and move on.

Actually Jack, according to CDC numbers only 90% of Americans describe themselves as heterosexual with 10% describing themselves as gay, bisexual, or something else. Other studies provide evidence that at least 10% of the population is gay or bisexual. In addition to the 10% of the population that is “not heterosexual” more than half of the population supports gay equality so a boycott is certainly going to deprive crap-fil-a of a lot of money.
Every major mental and physical health organization agrees that sexual orientation is not chosen and there is no such thing as a “gay lifestyle” so only the ignorant and bigots talk about gays as having a “chosen lifestyle”.
People who believe it is ‘normal’ to conduct sexual acts with the same sex, or deviate sexual acts with any person, are NOT normal. That is the reason they are referred to as queers. They are queer people, just next to the Walking Dead. It matters not what dimwit elected leaders and stupid judges rule, same sex marriages/homosexuals will never be accepted as normal with the great majority of people. You queers will always be descriminated against, and rightfully so.

I doubt he’ll ever come back but in reality, like the Phelps clan, he/she does more good than harm in the long run for equal rights. Rather than being a ‘witness’ to the Bible’s ‘truth’, he/she exposes the ugliness that arises when freedom of religion (which is guaranteed) is confused for freedom of expression (which is not guaranteed and is only ever the balancing of rights of individuals).
The fundamentally religious in the US are only just beginning to grapple with freedom of expression. Looning at the convolutions of thought that have gone into the denial of equal marriage (which boil down to the invocation of a Divine plan in the placing of the anatomy of one within the anatomy of another), then it is clear the passage to a more equal society will be fought for a long long time. But there is only one eventaul possible outcome.
I see two main categories of people who are consumed by fundamentalist religion, although there is a lot of overlap among the two.
The smaller category is people who are clever enough to learn how to use religion to amass power and/or wealth for themselves.
The far larger category is people who are ignorant, fearful, and perhaps stupid. And because they are largely uneducated and unaccomplished, resulting in low social status, the adoption of fundamentalist religion instantly confers higher status, at least among the fundamentalist subset. The moment they declare themselves saved they get a special relationship with a god, special insights, certainty, special privileges, a handy book to use as a weapon, and a strong sense of superiority and entitlement to authority over the truly educated and accomplished people who are conveniently viewed as deceived and lost.
Oh, I forgot, one of the other prime coveted perks of fundamentalism is that the notion of evidence to support beliefs can be dismissed as an irrelevant triviality. And the flip side is that, with science for example, there is never enough evidence to convince them.
