This is beautiful. It actually gives me hope, in a world and a time that despite my best efforts I often feel so hopeless. This also proves,just like Buffy pointed out, that hate is taught. Why anyone would teach their innocent child to hate anyone or group-I do not understand. The parents must be so proud of their wise little children, I know I would be if I saw my child say that.
It’s also what you grow up accustomed to. If a child becomes familiar with someone attracted to the same sex early in life they realize it’s not abnormal. If a child never sees that then in adulthood or teens finds out then it is alien and abnormal to them since they lack exposure. Informing and changing the opinions of an adult are a many times harder then those of a child because adults have formed biases (which sure we hate that word but they’re an evolutionary adaptation and we all have them) which get in the way which children are still forming.
Example: I was the lone out gay kid in the private elementary christian school, and the friends I had then are pro gay rights still even though we rarely catch up anymore.
